Tomorrow against Estonia. I think we have bigger chance against Bulgaria because they have weaker doubles team.I think a lot depends how Kaia's injury will let her play. I hope mondays match didnt made it worse and extra 2 days between monday and wednesday will (hopefuly) also help to heal the foot.

Good luck Kaia, Maret and Margit - you need it tomorrow. :)

Im a bit at awe that if the Fed Cup site can have live scores from matches all round the world (main draw) ..... yet they cant post the results (not even live scores just results) when the matches have finished from the Europe/Africa matches all held at the one place.

~RedRose~
Apr 20th, 2004, 10:17 PM
OK:

In the match against Serbia Montenegro; The Player Lina Stanciute was defeated by the world number 19 Jelena Dokic 6-0 6-4, and the Lithuanian Player Edita Liachoviciute was upset (by the sun?) Jelena Jankovic 6-1 6-1.
At first L.Stancuite was overwhelmed playing on the main showcourt, but in the second set was able to play her game.
(I think) The Lithuanian went ahead 2-0 in the second with support from the Lithuanian president/vice(??). However Dokic broke back and games were leveled at 2-2, then 3-3, and 4-4. Except in the end the Dokic's experience paid off as she finished the match off.
(something like) The Captains choice to position Lina in first position paid off well as she held up her own. With more battles against mighty players she will continue to improve. However this time Jelena, showed her precision in shot making and experience.
The Lithuanian doubles combination of Lina & Edita Liachoviciute defeated the Serbian team of Zaric & Timotic 7-5 6-3.

Serbia & Montenegro Def. Lithuania 2-1
Dokic Def. Stanciute 6-0 6-4
Jankovic Def. Liachoviciute 6-1 6-1
Stanciute/Liachoviciute Def. Zaric/Timotic 7-5 6-3

~RedRose~
Apr 20th, 2004, 10:20 PM
they prob should've gotten Jelena/Jelena to play doubles but i suppose they had already won and with a win over sweden they are no.1 in the group no matter what so.

Havok
Apr 20th, 2004, 10:30 PM
Yeah, they should put the two Jelenas in for doubles as well. These matches aren't strenouous for either of the two Jelenas, so I think they can manage both a singles match and a doubles match at the same time

a little bit more translation from me :)

In Greece, At the Women's Fed Cup, the Europe/Africa I Group Tournament, 2nd day, the Luithanians took another beating upset by the Serbia/Montengro team 1:2 (it seems it was 1-2). They will now fight for survival to stay in Group I. The day before the lost to Swedish Team 0:3.

~RedRose~
Apr 20th, 2004, 10:44 PM
About the doubles it says:
The Luthuanian team of Stanciute & Liachoviciute rolled over the top of the Serbian Team 7-5 6-3, Zaric & Timotic who are widly renouned with rankings of 177 & 370.

I read it in "Sportski urnal", apparently during practise on Moday they were involved in an argument of some kind, pretty hot-tempered. I don't know what started it, but Biljana Veselinović said she thinks it wasn't all that serious and that things like that can happen.
