thanks spiceboy :)

does this mean she will play RG and WB doubles and mixed doubles?

also, do you know if this means she doesn't plan on playing any of the north american hardcourt events before Athens?

Hi Randy :wavey:

Yes, she's playing mixed doubles as well in RG & W with Woodbridge :)

Dunno about NA tournies, though I wouldn't bet on her going there ;)

If she played her doubles as well as Martina Narvatilova played her singlers, I dont think she will get a paid trip Athens by Tennis Spain:). Good luck anyways.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm glad Aranxta's back but with such a weak partner I can't see much success coming her way :(

Actually, Medina is a much stronger doubles player than Serna. She has been sidelined with injuries, but she is a good doubles player, and excluding Vivi and Conchita (who want to play together), the best option for Arantxa.

Sorry Bea but I can't agree...Anabel is a fine doubles player at Tier III/IV/V level but that's all. Magui is way more consistent and with Arantxa has reached a Rome final in one of the few tournaments they have played together. Magui has also reached semis in Melbourne with Conchita and some semis in Tier II. Anabel still has to reach that level ;)

Serna is as good a doubles player at least as Anabel, but Anabel does have 4 WTA tour doubles titles so can play too. Also both Arantxa & Magui play best from the ad court in doubles so Anabel with her better forehand slots in better with Arantxa for doubles in theory. As long as Magui gets a singles slot the Spanish team for the Olympics seems to have been done very fairly and inclusively so that anyone who reasonably expected some sort of slot is going to end up going.
