Harju. Apr 26th, 2004, 02:09 PM :haha: :yeah: Love the title  Allez Amélie Lapin Apr 26th, 2004, 02:09 PM From today's L'Equipe. Thanks to Minou for posting this on Amélie's official board! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Babelfished etc.... ;) "A heavy programme" AMÉLIE MAURESMO, delighted to have filled her contract, turns now to the tournaments which will take her to Roland-Garros. -"Can you speak about formality in your second singles? - Yes. In fact, my adversary made the faults and the points. Me, I was satisfied to manage by tightening the play on the important points. I knew, as I had seen her playing against Nathalie on Saturday, that she (Groenefeld) was rather inconsistant. I approached the match serenely and that lasted. - Which lesson you take from this week spent the team and the meeting in itself? - The week it was very quite last. As of Sunday evening, when we found ourselves together, Guy Forget immediately put the players on guard to the risk of taking the meeting much too lightly; a meeting for which we were largely favorite on paper. We thus prepared the matches with great seriousness and, today, I estimate that we filled our contract well. - You had made it clear last year, after having won the final of the Fed Cup, that you would perhaps not be present for all the meetings this year. How is it for the second round? - The second round, it is still far away (in July). But I can say to you as of today that I will be present. I had some doubts at the end of the last season but, finally, Guy Forget and me are to some extent resigned for this year. France is holder of the title and we will do everything to try to keep it. The next round, against Italy or the Czech Republic, will not be easy because, moreover, it will not be played in France. The best possible team will thus have to be aligned. - What do you think of your level of play? - It is a little hard to return to a covered court after having played several weeks outside. Currently, I am fairly satisfied with my level of play. There are things to improve, in returns and with the service. In the course of the play, it is necessary also that I show myself more aggressive. But all that will come from playing matches. - You will play not badly of the matches these next weeks... - I leave Tuesday for Warsaw and will sequence(?) with Berlin and Rome. It is a heavy program in theory. In practice, one will see how it goes. It is possible, for example, that I will miss one of these three tournaments if I feel that, physically, I haven't enough(??); there is Roland-Garros which starts eight days after Rome and I do not want to arrive burnt out in Paris. Last year, I connected well the three tournaments (*) and, when I arrived at Roland-Garros, I did not have the feeling of being tired. But I believe that my physical condition was better one year ago than this year, especially in the area of recovery. Therefore, I do not know if I can already connect day after day several hard matches. One will see, it will be necessary to manage my timetable a little from day to day. (*) Last year, Amélie Mauresmo won Warsaw by beating Venus Williams finally, then she was beaten in the semi-final in Berlin after a well disputed match against Justine Henin and, in Rome, after having eliminated Serena Williams in semi-final, she lost in three sets against Kim Clijsters finally after having come very close to victory. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Bonne Chance Amélie!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Sonja Apr 26th, 2004, 03:50 PM Go Go Mauresmo Linnie Apr 26th, 2004, 04:43 PM ALLEZ AMÉLIE!!! :armed: Come out fighting!!! :boxing: Bероника Apr 26th, 2004, 09:22 PM Allez Momo!!! Apr 30th, 2004, 05:19 PM :sobbing: :crying2: Like someone said in the other thrad.. she's practically giving up after the second set.. Remember F Berlin/Rome? where she lost sth like 6-1 6-7 1-6.. Anyway.. regroup now Momo for Berlin :worship: Hope she's not injured or anything Mariangelina Apr 30th, 2004, 08:44 PM  Poor Amélie. I'm really scared she might be injured again. I know this has to be a tough time for her with her father's recent death and all, so some aberrant play isn't that surprising. Congrats to Francesca, who I'm sure is thrilled. :) I don't think she'd just "give up" against Schiavone of all people if nothing was wrong. She seemed to play okay beforehand. She's won the first and lost the second against Henin-Hardenne- twice- and gone on to win. I think there has to be something wrong. This has been a very, very bad day. Lapin Apr 30th, 2004, 08:50 PM Yes, poor Amélie! It must be so disappointing to lose in the quarter finals when you are defending champion, (and also the first time she has been No. 1 seed?) http://smile.smilies.nl/408.gif She looks really sad in her press conference: http://www.jandscup.pl/filmy/040430_mauresmo.wmv Life has thrown an awful lot at her in 2004, and it is understandable if she is not at 'full strength' at the moment. Francesca is a good player, who was on good form today by all accounts, (apparently serving really well). Also, better that it happens now than in a few weeks time, (or in the Fed Cup in July!) Better to 'peak' in a few weeks time. That said, I'm a bit worried that Amélie may not be able to defend enough points over the next two weeks to hold onto a top four seeding for Roland Garros; it will be sad if Lindsay takes it..... http://smile.smilies.nl/393.gif Anyway, a few pics to cheer us up; and then on to Berlin.... http://eur.news1.yimg.com/eur.yimg.com/xp/reuters_ids/20040430/i/3534569613.jpg http://eur.news1.yimg.com/eur.yimg.com/xp/afpji/20040430/040430192932.7gll57iv0b.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/575.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/576.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/577.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/578.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/580.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/581.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/579.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/582.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/583.jpg Lapin May 2nd, 2004, 01:47 AM Last few J&S Cup pics: http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/584.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/585.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/586.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/587.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/588.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/589.jpg http://www.jandscup.pl/zdj/590.jpg :D | |
