Venus and Serena have their special rankings, and Venus won a Tier I clay tournament.

Right now I think Amelie is still shaking the rust like the sisters.

I thought that the special rankings could only be used for one Grand Slam tournament... in that case Venus has already used hers in the Aus Open.

Technically, seeding at grand slams are the discretion of the organizing commitee, and they are not bound to WTA ranking...
The organizers of FO can grant WS special ranking, but they are not obliged to do so as they are not under WTA jurisdiction...

Looks like Chanda will probably withdraw if she keeps withdrawing from all the tournaments that she needs to prepare for RG.

Amanda hasn't been in action for a while due to suffering from fatigue. It takes a long time to recover so it's best she is resting in order to recover. Hopefully she will be back soon!

Has Amanda been sick. She's been recovering from fatigue for a while now. She only played the Australian Open. I don't think she retired. I thought she said she really wanted to play the olympics. It's just sad that she broke her chain of consecutive slams

Maja was fine in Fed Cup and would have played singles if someone got injured but then she said she hopes to be ready for Athens!!?? She won't play anytime soon - not sure how long must you be out to get your rankings frozen

6 months.
According to my calculation, her last WTA tournament was Linz so she is allready out 6 months...

I just realized that... so Maja is not eligible for protected ranking until August, and her ranking should be 62 as of February 9th...
That means if she wants to qualify to Athens she can't play any match until the Olympics!!!

Read in Aussie Newspaper that Henin and Williams aswell as Clisters is very doubtful

Henin because of an illness and Williams from an ankle injury she sustained in Hamburg ?? not sure if this is right but if it is it certainly opens the door for Davenport . . Capriarti . . Mystina and a few others . . . besides the obvious Amile and Serena
