I did something similar last year. I got outside tickets on the second Friday and ventured around outside courts til jus before 5 when I managed to get a ticket for Centre Court. I watched 2 good doubles matchs. Ran to Court 3 to peer over Court 2 to watch Mottram and the other Brit beat the AUssie Maccas. I ran to get a ticket for Court 1 so I could watch Martina win her doubles match on Court 1. Boy that was one of the best days of my life.

if u want centre court tickets u really need to camp out over night ;)

May 11th, 2004, 07:50 PM
I intend to get Ground tickets, venture around the outside courts til 4:00 or 5:00pm and get tickets for show courts. I can watch quite a few matchs in one day doing it that way and it saves money paying a bomb for a show court ticket and staying up, overall on Friday I spent 17 (8 for ground entrance 5 for centre court before 5 4 for Court 1 after 5). Cheap. If you are not like me and do want show court tennis then quewe really early.

so if i got to wimbledon at say 9 in the morning i could not get centre or num 1 court tickets for that day???

May 23rd, 2004, 07:43 AM
I will be going for the first time :) Travelling from The Netherlands.. Want to go to Roehampton for some days and then a few days in week 1 too. Will go for ground passes, as I don't like the 'big' matches anyway ;)

Can someone tell me whether it is possible to watch the practising of the main draw players during the qualifying event? As qualies are being played in Roehampton, I take it the practising just takes place at Wimbledon itself? Is there any chance seeing that?

so if i got to wimbledon at say 9 in the morning i could not get centre or num 1 court tickets for that day???

I have been told you need to be there at 2 or 3 AM ;) For ground passes they said 6 am will be good enough, so I will try that!

May 25th, 2004, 10:42 AM
em you will need to be there a lot earlier than that!!!early hours of the morning shud b ok :p

saturday need to get there for 5/6

monday im guessing 6.30 -7 to get ground pass tix and not be at the very back of the queue

Jun 3rd, 2004, 01:33 PM
yea if u want center court or court 1 tickets then you are gonna have to camp really, its the only way to get a real good chance of getting them.

Ground pass wise u can afford to leave it till about 8am somedays but to be sure u will want to get there for about 7am and if the weather is nice then u can sunbathe for a few hours on the grass or get harrassed by some harry potter loving freak like i did lat year :)

and if anyone is put off by the idea of camping then dont be, did it last year on the friday and it was a lot of fun, as long as u bring enough food/drink and warm clothing youll have a good time :-D and i shall be doing the same this year on the friday.

going with Glyn, Pixy and Matt Morrelli from the Dokic.com site this year just like every year so if anyone fancies meeting then just let us know :) we're all nice guys :p well...maybe not glyn lol

Jun 16th, 2004, 10:54 AM
does anybody know where to buy tics for qualifying? plan to go tomorrow, but have no idea what should i do?

Jun 16th, 2004, 11:08 AM
This will be my 5th year in a row and I always queue with varying success. I normally go for the 1st Tuesday and Wednesday and I normally arrive at the queue just before 6am. I've had court 2 tix a few times and even got court 1 on one occasion but I normally miss out on centre by a little bit.

The middle Saturday is absolute mayhem, I did it once and I vowed *never* again! I got there for 6am and there was just total carnage, so many people. In order to get anything but ground pass on the Saturday you'd have to camp out. In fact on the Friday a couple of years ago there was a queue across the road for the Saturday and this was 9am Friday morning!!! They were on the grassy bit on the opposite side to the queue just after the roundabout on Church Rd.

I'm going for the 1st Wed & Thurs this year as exams dictate I can't go on the Tues but whatever I get I'll be happy :) .

jd_fan qualies are free entry! I went a couple of years ago and it's a really good (free!) day out. there was hardly anyone around when I went and it was lovely weather.

Jun 16th, 2004, 12:27 PM
oh, that's great! just hopefully weather is not going to spoil it!!!

thanks a lot!!!!
