Its not the final I wanted - I wanted us to play Russia, the all time great international team - but oh well, we'll have to settle for the US ;)

I REALLY want Canada to win - its been a llloooonnngggg time coming.

But it will be tough.

Any calls?

Well I know who I want to win ;) but I'm keeping away from predictions!

Same here!

I don't wan to predict the US to win, cause it will end up being the one time I'm right about hockey ;)

On the otherhand I don't want to jinx them and pick Canada to win.

Its going to be a stressful Sunday!!!

Note to self - stop by beer store before Sunday...

Well, it all depends on how they skate in the short program and the marks by the judges....

:) j/k

Oh that shouldn't be a problem Seles.

The choreography of the Canadian team is far more difficult than that of the Americans.

Their ability to interpret the techno music in the background cannot be matched. Their artistic merit is at its all time best when "Who let the Dogs Out" is blaring.

LOL!!!

I wanted the CZECH TEAM win the gold medal...

but I am with Canada on Sunday.

I think the americans have more chances to win; they play good, have lots of shots on goal... and they play at home...

GOOD LUCK, CANADA!!!

Now I'll be happy no matter who wins.

Becca, I told you the US would beat Russia :P

Good luck to both teams... but, go USA! :D

I'm going to use reverse psychology, that usually does it for me. Canada 4-3. That really means USA 4-3!

I hope the referee is Russian!

Becca:

The Canadian skaters already got their help from the judges when the judges didn't mark Bourne and Kraatz behind Drobiazko and Vanagas in the ice dancing despite the fact that the Canadians fell badly in their routine.

BTW: Did anybody else notice that the Russian judge placed Sarah Hughes *TENTH* in the short program, despite the fact that every other judge had her in the top six?

Wouldn't it be something if the over concussed and over villified Eric Lindros became a hero for Canada? I think he deserves some good breaks for a change. But I still hope America wins. They have played tougher opponents. While Canada has had a free skate to the final. Go Richter, Leetch and company!

US will win, not that I care anyway. They can't play at all outside of US of A, but at home they are pretty much unbeatable..

GO CANADA! Sweep the hockey! :D

I, perhaps, would agree that Canada winning would be better for the sport. It is always better to see country mad for the sport winning it rather than the country who cares very little about it.

I also thought that, perhaps, it would be much more interesting and fair for the system to be changed and to be a best-of-three series startign from semifinals. That would make a hockey tournament all more exciting...

Sadly, this does end an era for us.

Joe Sakic has one more Olympics left in him.

Stevie Y and Mario do not.

CongraTS Canada!

I was going to bring up the bit about their creampuff draw. But I won't.

Eggy, what are you so happy about? If your team(Russia) could kill a penalty, your team may have been in the gold medal game.

I sure hope this is the last we see of the NHL pro's in the Olympics. The Olympic hockey was thrown together like a pile of laundry. It was rush rush rush!

the cat - just some good natured ribbing ahead ;)

"I was going to bring up the bit about their creampuff draw. But I won't. "

I could point out that in order to get to the semis the US beat Belarus, Finland, tied Russia, then beat Germany in the quarter finals. That hardly sounds like the draw from hell - with the exception of their game with Russia, they were all one sided affairs.
Or I could bring up the fact that the US played a totally uninspired Russian team in the semis - who only truly played for one period - and still amost managed to lose a three goal lead.
Or I could mention that the US really only had to beat one quality team that could threaten them in order to get to the finals - Russia.
Unlike Canada who had to face both Sweeden and the Czech Republic in the round robin. Doesn't sound anymore cream puff than the USA.
But I won't.

"Eggy, what are you so happy about? If your team(Russia) could kill a penalty, your team may have been in the gold medal game. "

Perhaps he was just cheering against the team that beat his favourite - I do it sometimes too. Or perhaps - god forbid - he just likes the Canadians? Nah, I think it was the latter ;)
Its worth the mention though, that Russia came THIS close in a game that they only really played one period of.

"I sure hope this is the last we see of the NHL pro's in the Olympics. The Olympic hockey was thrown together like a pile of laundry. It was rush rush rush!""

I disagree here. So many people argue that pros shouldn't play the Olympics.
I'm sorry, but can you honestly tell me that someone who trains year round, and competes on the World Cup circuit for speed skating, is really an "amature" athlete? Thats laughable.
The only difference between the hockey pros, and other athletes, is the money in their pockets.
Frankly, I think the best players in each country should be eligible to play. If those players happen to play on the NHL - then so be it.
