The planes would have crashed into Canary Wharf and not the WTC?

Would America have helped Britain out? Probably just a few condolence messages and a basic "yer on yer own mate".

Even before the awful day of September the 11th, my country has slowly begun to sell itself down the river and gradually seen itself become almost an unofficial american state. We are constantly used by the American air force as an aircraft carrier, British artillery designs have been sold to the Americans, basically the UK is like the US's puppet.

It is a sign of the increased Americanisation (note how I use an s instead of a z ;)), that my country has become flooded by, more than anyone else. The mentality people have today here that "if it's American, it's good" or if "it's American, it's important". We are soon to act when America get in trouble, soon to offer a hand. But if we got in trouble, would America offer theirs?

Over here we get jingoistic news coverage on how "our boys" are helping America fight the war against terrorism, and indeed they are doing a grand job. And of course we are working together to fight the evil of international terrorism which I'm sure we all agree is something that must be stopped.

But at the end of the day, if this huge war on terrorism is won, will Britain get a shade of credit from the US? Or will it be a case of "How America won the war, and no-one else did" a la WW2?

Food for thought.

Joey,
I COMPLETELY, 100%, agree with you.
