Altough Justine is not playing her best tennis right now this week, I expect her to win.. but Serena can be very tough! I'm hoping for a very good Justine-Serena final :D

If (more likely: when) they both reach the final, I fear that Serena will win. I actually hope that Paola makes the final :)

One thing I find alarming is Serena´s struggle to close-out matches. Too many times she gets broken when serving for matches or sets....and against a player like Justine, that can be fatal.

Yeah, but I think Serena has to be favourite on form so far. What bugs me slightly is the assumption that no one can stop her or Juju from reaching the final. You'd have to expect those two to reach the final but players like Momo and Lindsay aren't slouches either. There are still several players with a chance.

The way Justine's playing on the dirt right now, she'll be lucky to make it to the finals. Somehow, she's apparently turned herself into a hard court player. It's all very....odd.

Why are we all skipping to the "end of the book", don't we still have a few chapters left to go through before we get to the finals?

I think Mauresmo will win it, in fact i hope she does. I don't want the same two players winning all the time. Go Momo!!

The only match on Serena's comeback that she dropped serve, serving for it was the Sprem match. Can you tell me of others?

Serena of course, Justine seems to be playing pretty bad in this tourny.

If justine keeps on playing like this she won't win against serena, I doubt whether she will make the final actually.

But I think she'll pick it up.

If Justines wins her next two matches in two sets, playing the way we're used to see her play on clay,I think that she'll have quite a good shot at winning this tourney.
But now I just hope she'll make it through against Vera Z.
You know I love you Vera but I want Juju to win, sorry :)

The funny thing is:last year her very first two claycourtmatches went to 3 sets. She had lots off troubles shaking of Pisnik and Dechy but than she played 3 neer perfect matches to win one of the best tourney of her life.

Vera will be a tough match, if she plays like she is, she won't win.

I saw this even on the hard-courts. She seems more impatience now, like she has to hit as hard as everybody else. I see her picking it up though. She'll probably play more patient against the big hitters as well.

You make an interesting point about the same players constantly winning. You also have to consider it from from some fans point of view as well, and when your absolute favorite player is playing, you end up mostly caring about one thing. That "one thing" usualy revolves around what's most fulfilling to you as a fan. So tell me what's more fulfilling than watching your favorite player(s) destroy everybody on the tour??! (I'm talking complete and unquestionable dominance!) The truth is, while some players on tour are busy chasing tournaments and a GrandSlam or a high ranking, other players, like Serena and Justine, are chassing "THE GREATS" and their places in history. How else will your favorites be consisered amongst the "TENNIS GREATS":

THE GREATS- win A LOT of tournaments
THE GREATS- win A LOT of GrandSLAMS
THE GREATS- win A LOT of matches
THE GREATS- CRUSH all those who dare stand in their way
THE GREATS- do get boring to watch if you're not a fan of who's ever turn it is to dominate

If one or two players don't break away from the field and dominate, then none of the players are looked at as "GREAT". What you end up with is a much more competitive field, but you also get a medicore looking field.... kinda' like how the ATP used to be before their "Super Stars" started getting more consistent and you had familar faces winning.

...just a few herb enhanced thoughts floating around in my head...

Good points there, but even as a Justine fan, i don't wanna c her thrashing or beating everyone. I want to see variation in the game, otherwise even i may lose interest.

I agree...she's changing the strategy of her game, and after being destroyed by Serena last July...who wouldn't but I fear that this will do much more harm than good. I think it'll be Momo and Serena in the final and Serena will serve up another destruction!

I understand, you're more of a fan of the quality and of the sport of "tennis" as a whole, more than you are of Justine as your favorite player. I didn't consider that, so that's a very interesting view. I think in my case it's equal- my liking to Serena is equal with my liking of tennis.

I wonder how that works in team sports. Are people generaly more of a fan of their favorite team or of their favorite player on that team....hmmmm, interesting.

Yeah teams sports are different i think.

Of course i am more of a fan of tennis than one player, believe me i'm not obsessed with a player, but u could say i was obsessed with tennis ;) .

I like many players and would like many to win, even if Justine is my absolute fav.
