View Full Version : OMG! Is SERENA going to win her 2nd title in a row!?

SERENA had some very good stats in her first match win over Mary Pierce in the B&L championships that pointed towards another good tourney that she could play and even a possible 2nd title in a row for the Princess of Power.

http://www.gotennis.com/Photos/2004-04-03T184913Z_01_MIA05D_RTRIDSP_2_SPORT-TENNIS.jpg

A second title this soon would be tremendous, but as long as she plays well as she did today, even in a possible loss, it will still be a win for a player who was off the tour for nearly one year.

Good luck, SERENA!

She's Taking this one too! The domination has re-commenced.

Serena has a couple of more people to play. I wouldn't quite make that statement that she will win, but I hope she keeps her level of play pretty high and continues to progress nicely. She's gaining momentum, getting more match play in and becoming even tougher because of that play. I hope she keeps playing the way she has and who knows, maybe even gets better :)

But let her win her second match and then the one after that first.

She's all ready out did herself, it's totally understandable if she has a let down this tournament. Win or lose, I don't really care. I just just want her to be ready for the FO.

Pfff. You can't trust the stats - especially if they show it's Serena who is having a good match. May be the person who is entering the errors number mistakenly pressed the winners button - you know, Serena with her tight clothing and very visible assets is bound to distract those poor stat entry people.

What was my point? Yeah, don't predict Serena will win based on those incorrect stats. Yet.

Yes she can and I think she will.

The stats are crap. But it's no surprise that TR is the only person left not knowing that. :)

GoDom,
I know that you are the GM post police. I remember you kept telling us NOT to have a scoring thread in GM last week when people were posting Serena's scores. You seemed irritated by that. Well, yesterday, during her match with Mary P., we posted the scores all throughout the match in GM! WE loved it.

GoDom - how are the stats crap? Other matches seemed normal yesterday, in fact I don't recall but one or two other players hitting more winners than errors yesterday.

If I had been online, I would have reported the thread and it would have been moved. :)

Joshua - most stats seem to be correct but there's a least one stats person who doesn't have a clue.

Maleeva def. Randriantefy 6-4 6-7 6-3

Maleeva W/UE: 58/23
Randriantefy: 42/12

Pierce def. Shaughnessy 6-1 6-2

Pierce: 43/20
Shaughnessy: 17/17

Davenport def. Sun 6-2 7-5

Davenport: 33/6
Sun: 23/3

All I am saying is that these stats (and actually stats in general) are not reliable and you shouldn't base any predictions on future matches on them. :)

Offtopic, but what is Serena wearing in that picture? It's hideous! I'd much rather she wore the white bikini she was wearing in the SI swimsuit pics... ;) Seriously, she's gorgeous when dressed properly so don't think I'm getting at her here, but this 'outfit' is just awful.

LOL

See what we've come to .....elana is a "top ten" player, Serena beat her 1 and 1... but I agree beating e.dem. even by that scoreline isn't that big a deal.

You are wrong. :) And I don't think you know me well enough to judge what might irritate me or not. :)

Have fun while it lasts, but be warned: I will be back. :)

Well, it's not impossible she wins it seeing how well she plays.

But indeed, what's she wearing? Must be very hot there. That's what I wear underneath my clothes actually:p

Serena seems to be playing well but I wouldnt be too confident yet. Shes got a tough draw and still more tough matches to play, and shes sometimes up and down on her form. I think she may get tired, seeing that she hasnt played for a while and has played a lot of matches recently. Her knee may get too sore. I hope she wins but we'll have to wait and see. Personally I dont like her playing 4 weeks in a row right after she comes back from injury.

Those stats look ok. Maybe the players just played well! You dont know that they didnt unless u saw the match. Or maybe they were just counting forced errors as winners, which is pretty much the same thing. There were also other matches where the stats had more UE's than winners, so it wasnt happening with all matches.

she has a few more matches to go. and clay really requires her to be patient and construct points effectively..
going from 8 months off, to hard courts in miami and now to clay.. that is quite a tall order.. I think she will do well.. but I think Justine has the edge on clay (not that I'm assuming EITHER of then will make the finals.. you never know)...

Those stats are NOT ok.
In her next match, Maggie had 5 winners.
And no one hits 17 winners while losing 1-6 2-6.

Counting forced errors as winners might be ok but only if you do it in ALL matches and that's obviously not the case.

Bamboo - I did not say that SERENA would win, I said that it was possible that she could win if she keeps playing well as she did in that match. Please practice on your reading comprehension.

Also, and to the other naysayers, I am a fan and I am supposed to be confident and biased towards my faves, that's what good fans do. :p

SERENA is in the B&L quarters and has not dropped a set, compared to the Hand, who had to battle for her very tourney life against the Great Conchi.

Things are looking good for a chance to make the finals for baby sis.
