Which of the 3 do you think she'll employ more?

1. In somewhat of a "i'll show you who's stronger now!" mentality, do you think she'll try and beat Serena from the baseline?

2. Do what she did last year with the slices, angles, etc?

3. Serve & Volley?

I dunno, it'll be interesting to see! In my opinion if she uses all 3 she has a great chance of winning. My guess is that Serena has practiced her ass with different paced shots, so Justine will need to add something else to the equation if she wants to win

I'm guessing they would opt for a combination of 2 & 3 alongside being forced into 1 with Serena's deep pounding balls.

She'll use 2 & 3.
She'll abandon both if Serena comes out strong and shows it's not effecting her.
Than Justine will go to #1 and will get a beating.
If Serena is off, 2 & 3 will do just fine.

If 1, 2, & 3 don't work, she could always employ 4.

4. Lift your hand at crucial moments in the match when your opponent is 2/3 through service motion. Deny thereafter that you lifted your hand, and deny the visual evidence as well.

I thought option 4 was included in all. Isn't it the main force of her game?

I'd like to change my before-mentioned prediction.

strategy 4 all the way!

How about strategy #5? Or is that 6?
5. Laugh at Serena's outfit, thereby, reducing her confidence.
http://dailymailnews.com/200309/16/news/Henin.jpg
Serena's counter strategy could be:
Fume in anger and give her the evil stare and the fist pump combo.

6.5 - When in a losing position, take an injury time for cramping. Come out and run faster than Forest Gump, confuse your opponent, thus increasing your confidence of beating your opponent 'cramped'.

many injury timeouts...for sure.

You betcha she has. Probably 6/8 months that she was "injured" she was probably practising.

I hope Justine has the answers. She has what it takes that's for sure.

Hmm...well, she might start out with strategy 1...and then if it doesn't work, swap over to 2. I'm bit a shocked that y'all think that strategy 1 is doomed to failure on clay...Justine totally outhit Serena in the first set of the FO semi-final, if ya recall...

But that is gonna only work for 1 set....and you still need to win two sets to win a match.

I have a suspicion she might go with #1... hopefully she'd mix it up with #2 and #3 as well. I think the plan is to serve and volley on grass but she may not have the confidence to go for it - I was so irritated with her in the Wimbledon 2001 final when she won the second set playing aggressive serve and volley and then apparently just forgot this in the third set, sat on the baseline and lost the match.

Justine will simply wait around till they realize that she hasn't
shown up for parole check. Serena will be gone by the finals. ;)

Option #7 Hire Jeff Gillooly (Tonya Harding's ex) to put superglue all over the grip of Serena's raquet, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Just relax, get a high first serve percentage, and play her game. Shouldn't be any problems.

Well don't think she going to go for the angels all the time. If I remeber well she played last year very close to the lines in the middle of the court. It's harder to make angels when the ball is in the center. When Justine makes angels were Serena can get to it will be easier for Serena to make angels herself :) But the ball has to be very deep otherwise it's a piece of cake for Serena. Justine has to attack herself but her defense hasto be good to so Serena gets nervous and makes errors. SErve and volley would be nice :)

But both girls aren't in the final yet so let's wait and see on sunday :)

She's gonna use similar stategy to one she used last yr, but she's mentally alot tougher, as being #1 and multiple slam winner makes u.

She's not gonna change a winning game.

Option #1 should be drop shot her ass off. And if Serena gets to the ball, Justine should lob her ass off. And the drop shot again...etc..etc..etc...etc

if she wants to beat Serena it will have to be from the baseline...She may mix it up, but there's no way she's dumb enough to come out and try and serve & volley.

No no no. Didn't you hear or read in the newspapers? Serena is the best thing that happened to this planet since the polio vaccine. Serena is too good and better than Justine by a mile so Justine better not try anything than play Serena's game with Serena, otherwise Justine won't win. Hmmm
Justine leads Serena 3-1 on clay, but Serena will kick Justine's pasty ass anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huh, that depends which Justine will show up Martian. She can be moody at times ( she wasn't lazy in the double fault's department against Dinara).

I think option no.2...thatīs what troubled Serena mostly last year in their matches. Donīt know if a baseline for baseline rally Justine can beat Serena. Serve & Volley?! Judging from the way Serena was passing Justine at Wimbledon...donīt know if that would be a great idea either.

RAA
Apr 8th, 2004, 04:05 PM
she'll mix it up. that is the best way to beat serena. hit hard and then change pace and/or variety.

this is justine's favorite surface.. and she is the world #1.. all the pressure is on her..

You can't base yourself on one match. It's not because it didn't work in Wimbledon, that' it isn't gonna work now either, although I don't think she'll use that strategy.
I think she'll play like last year, just now with a lil' more confidence and experience.

But now I'm just rooting for Justine to get passed Conchi.Always gotta concentrate on the next match, don't look to a 'possible' final untill you're there.

There is Nothing Justine can do to win! Absolutely nothing. "although cheating with a crowd did work last year"

Serena will turn her matches with Justine into the same beatdowns she enforced upon Jennifer Cappy. Beat her at her own game (clay) and TROUNCE her on grass and Hardcourts.

It is already a "Wrap"
