hmmm

Alicia is one of those players who has the game to cause damage but maybe not the belief.

i hope she does well, but i like Linzi too, so it's win-win for me

I saw Alicia play on clay last year in Sarasota and was surprised that she isn't ranked higher. I still think Lindsay will win in two tough sets

Should be competitive. After all, Sun won 7 games off of Lindsay in the first round (and, based on the stats, Lindsay was actually playing very well), so Molik's certainly got a chance.

However, Lindsay has the experience so she should win in 2 tough sets.

It's still mobility for Lindsay, Sun had a lot of winners!

No trouble for Lindsay!!!!!! Alicia's only weapon is her big fast serve which is not a huge factor on clay, whereas Lindsay possess that too with additional placement.

Lindsay beat her too i think at hopman cup this year besides last year wimbledon.
See what I mean? Wimby is a grass and Lindsay still able to break her serve a couple more times.

Also, Lindsay hardly loses to a player with no elite status!!!!

Well it is clay, but Lindsay did very well here last year so I think she'll go far. Also IMO Lindsay is still very consistent and her game has for the most part been getting better. I think Lindsay will prevail :) :bounce:

I think Lindsay will win. Alicia has the game to trouble her. If Alicia is ever going to fulfill her potential she is going to have to have a breakthrough. Now is as good of a time as any but I don't think it will be this week. I do think this is her year to make a breakthrough in a major way.

My biggest concern for Linds against Alicia is her wrist injury. I think Alicia is slower on clay than Lindsay is and she would be smart to expose that.

If Lindsay's injury is not a major problem, I don't see a problem in this match with her winning.

Lindsay should win this unless her wrist is still bothering her.

Alicia's only weapon is her big fast serve

sorry i disagree. alicia's serve is not her only weapon. she has a great net game and when she is on, her forehand is a big weapon and her backhand is consistent. the main thing preventing her from making the top 20/ top 30 consistently is her movement and self belief. still, i think this is her breakthrough yr and she has a good shot against lindsay on clay.
GO ALICIA :bounce:

Yes, if Lindsay cant run on clay, she'll be in big trouble, possibly 3 sets win for Lindsay

NO ELITE STATUS

Alicia is a great player. She would have won against Kim Clijsters earlier this year if Kim hadnt hurt her ankle.
Shes austrailias number 1 player and shes only just outside the top 30.
Shes a good player i do believe she has the game to beat Lindsey

If Molik plays like she did at Hopman cup earlier this year, I reckon she has a chance :) She's obviously not playing too bad any, especially after that love, love match in the first round :D

This thread is not dissing Alicia, yes she is a great player but not great enough to dismantle Lindsay. Lindsay is better in all category!!!!!! even in movement I would say.

BUT!!!!! only a little chance, If Lindsay is not feeling good about her wrist, then she really has a small chance to capitalize on it.

So if Lindsay loses everyone will blame the Wrist can you say sore loser?

Experimentee
Apr 8th, 2004, 02:58 PM
I dont see her troubling Lindsay, clay is Alicia's weakest surface and she doesnt move well on it, even worse than Lindsay. Also the clay will negate Alicia's serve, which is her biggest weapon.

not necessarily, if she would lose, and thats a big IF then if she was just simpily outplayed then no Lindsay fans wouldnt blame her wrist because we have class and i'm sure she would say if her wrist was bothering her, but if she lost and she said it was bothering her then that would more than likely be the reason she lost, and Lindsay is honest so why wouldnt you believe her?

Of coarse i would belive her :) but what im seeing in this thread is the indication that if Alicia beats Lindsay the only reason would be because of her wrist

:secret: in 2003 she made 2 finals in a row on clay one as a Quallifyer took Maleeva to 3 sets at the FO and this year beat Jankovic 6-0 6-0 and Clay courter Parra 6-3 6-4 without being broken in the match :secret:
