I like to follow some of the top junior players results and see how they progress over the years, and I can't help but notice Barbora's recent rise in the rankings. (She was 146 at the end of 2003) and has climbed up to #97. I was kinda sad to see Barbora not play up to her junior ranking for the past few years, but now it seems she has picked up her game nicely, with a fourth round showing in Miami and a very recent upset of Pistolesi. Will this former #1 Junior have a nice career like Cara Black, or maybe a stronger career ala Martina Hingis. :tape:
What type of game does she play?

She has a great all-court game, and is great fun to watch as she is really expressive. Reminds me a lot of my old fave ASV in many ways, although more in character and size than style of play. She's been troubled a lot by injuries but finally seems to be playing into some real fom, and is doing some damage at last :)

I saw her play Lindsay and some others at the Hopman Cup in January (thanks to the Tennis Channel). She's very expressive on court and has a good game. She's a definite fighter, and has great potential to be top 40 easily.

I'm so happy she won today! What a tough cookie to pull that match out against one of the best defensive players on the tour (especially on clay). Next up Mauresmo- that will be a real test of where she's at. I've never seen her play, but I've been following her results for a while now. It's great to see her coming into form!!!! I'll reserve judgement on how good she can be until I've seen her play.

I agree that she's an exciting player to watch. Hope she does well in the clay season.
she plays Momo in the next round?

Barbora is actually at #82 in the world right now, and her win against Smashnova should boost her ranking up quite a bit more- around #76 roughly. She's on her way up and is playing in Tier 1 Family Circle Cup next week and then in Strasbourg as well. She will probably have to go through qualifying again at both tournis, but at this rate, she could move up very quickly in the rankings!!! I've got no idea if she is defending any points- anyone know?
