What crap are u talking about?? Conchi has played through the era's of Martina N, Steffi, Monica, ASV, Hingis, Davenport and the Williams Sisters and managed to get to 700 wins and still rising!!

She is one of the best and most consistent players of the last 15 years, a grandslam winner and multi grandslam finalist! has won titles on every surface!!

Some people!!!

Martinez Closes in on Milestone

AMELIA ISLAND, FL. - The clay court season officially got underway on a Monday that included a brisk day in northern Florida at the Bausch & Lomb Championships. Sixteen first round matches got underway at Amelia Island Plantation, though many players arrived a bit surprised by the cold weather as the high temperature for the first day of main draw action only topped out at 71 degrees. Conchita Martinez moved one step closer to another career milestone by returning from the brink of defeat to escape Lina Krasnoroutskaya in three sets. Krasnoroutskaya was serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set before Martinez rattled off three straight games to force a third set where she easily put away the match, 36 75 61. Martinez closed out the match by winning nine of the last 10 games.

Martinez is now two wins shy of becoming only the seventh player in the Open Era to record 700 career wins. Earlier this year, Martinez surpassed legendary Billy Jean King (695) for seventh place on the Open Era Match Wins list and seems poised to pass Evonne Goolagong Cawley (704) at some point during the year.

No.12 seed Patty Schnyder reached the second round after defeating Claudine Schaul in three sets, 75 46 61. Schnyder got a bit of help from Schaul, who at times struggled with her service game, committing 11 double faults and winning only 37 percent of points on her second serve.

"For me, it was hard to come back from being down, but of course I'm happy to be through," Schnyder said. "I wasn't moving that well in the beginning. It was cold and a bit muddy. She seemed to get much more tired as the match went on."

No.14 seed Francesca Schiavone was the first seeded player to exit the event, falling to Spaniard Arantxa Parra in three sets, 16 76(4) 60.

"It was a great win over a very good player for me," Parra said. "When I was playing the second set, I didn't think that I could come back and win that set, but I started to play very well, more solid. I started to put more balls in the court and not miss too many. I had more confidence."

Russian Dinara Safina cruised through to the second round and a date with World No.1 Justine Henin-Hardenne following her 61 63 victory against Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn.

"My whole game seemed to be working," Safina said. "I was focused and played the important points well."

Safina will be playing Henin-Hardenne for only the second time and first since the fourth round of last year's US Open - a match Henin-Hardenne won 60 63.

"She's the best player in the world, so I just need to fight for every point," Safina said.

She put up a fight, that's for sure. I didn't see the match, so I'm not sure how well Justine was, but at least our lady Conchita gave it to her good! 700 will have to wait until Family Circle Cup!
