How many spots would be open for singles? Doubles?
I would imagine that Kuznetsova / Likhovtseva would play doubles. Would Russia have more than one spot open for doubles?
Would like to see both Myskina and Dementieva play (singles).

I'm not sure if that idiot Shamil Tarpishchev would pick Lickovtseva....
He plans to put Dementieva, Myskina in the team and Sharapova, Kuznetsova, Safina as possible substitutes in case of injury. But I don't know... the Olympics have 4 players I think.

If I were to pick I will go with the following: 4 singles ,2 doubles team

Singles: Dementieva,Myskina,Kuznetzova and Sharapova
Best singles results so far among russians:
Doubles:Kuznetsova/Likhotseva
Could be any pairing from the remaining players.

Zvonareva and Petrova, is worth sending too!!!!! I have them as reserve.
Kournikova as Muse!!!!!!

He's putting Sharapova on the team, no matter what...

So, I do not care about my home country for these Olympics. I am embarassed.

From the 6 players nominated, a maximum of 4 players can play singles and 4 players can play doubles. The team should be:
5 (5) MYSKINA, ANASTASIA - singles + doubles
8 (8) DEMENTIEVA, ELENA - singles
11 (12) PETROVA, NADIA - singles
12 (11) ZVONAREVA, VERA - doubles
14 (14) KUZNETSOVA, SVETLANA - singles + doubles
42 (40) LIKHOVTSEVA, ELENA - doubles

While I think that Vera is one of the top 4 singles players in Russia, I also think that it would be unpopular to choose her ahead of Sveta based on current form. Vera deserves to be selected in singles, but I think that she'll be given a doubles spot as a consolation prize.

I'd agree with that team. If Sharapova/Safina/Zvonareva had a run of terrific results before then, I'd say that they should play instead of Petrova, but as things are at the moment that would be Russia's strongest team. Unfortunately, it sounds like Tarpishchev would rather go with top ranked singles players and ignore the doubles. This would be idiotic given that Sveta/Elena L would be favourites for the gold... It would be really annoying if Elena L were left out - she's been such a consistent Fed Cup player and deserves her chance at a medal.

for singles, it should be definitely dementieva, myskina and petrova.
the 4th player is a toss up between zvonereva and kuznetsova. on current form i would say kuz.
for doubs, definitely kuz/lik and then probably myskina/lina k
