Strasbourg -- Top-ranked Justine Henin-Hardenne is doubtful for the Internationaux de Strasbourg (http://www.wtatour.com/tournaments/profiles/strasbourg.asp), and Venus Williams and Lindsay Davenport have not entered next month's clay-court tournament, nor have Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters, Magdalena Maleeva, Martina Navratilova, Monica Seles, Sarah Pitowski, and Elena Dementieva entered. But that's not important.

Organizers did not say why Henin-Hardenne might miss the French Open tuneup on May 17-23.

The Belgian has neither ever played here, nor ever had the intention to do so, but for some reason we all thought she was going to play here.

She skipped this week's Nasdaq-100 Open in Key Biscayne, Fla., to prepare for the clay-court season and the defense of her French Open title.

Henin-Hardenne has won 22 of 23 matches this season and four titles, including the Australian Open. Her next appearances are at tournaments this month in Amelia Island, Fla., and Charleston, S.C.

Italian (http://www.wtatour.com/tournaments/profiles/strasbourg.asp) Open organizers said all of the top 50 ranked men had entered, led by No. 1 Roger Federer. Felix Mantilla, who beat Federer in last year's final, will defend his title. We know the Internationaux de Strasbourg (http://www.wtatour.com/tournaments/profiles/strasbourg.asp) is a women's only event, but we figured we'd throw in that last part anyway. Thanks.

Last I checked, Strasbourg is a Tier III... :p

She wasn't entered here anyways... and it would be stupid for her to play this.

Please, who cares about Rome? She's missing STRASBOURG for God's sake!
And the absence of Sarah Pitkowski just makes it worse...
The future of WTA is looking darker than ever...

When I saw this athe first thought that came to my mind was "Is the world# expected to play all tournaments now?" Then, "Strasbourg? Isn't that a Tier 111 tournament?"

Thank god it's a gag; it would speak very badly of our/their expectations of the World #1.
