SERENA WILLIAMS, whose lifestyle most would call a fantasy, glimpses the way ordinary people live on one of her favourite pastimes reality television.

Williams has reached the finals WTA and ATP Masters Series here after missing the past eight months since winning her sixth Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

The 22-year-old American admitted she is pleased at having played every match in the daytime so she can enjoy her favourite shows, those reflecting the tribulations of daily life for people lacking lucrative endorsement deals.

"I'm a reality freak," said Williams today. "You can really see the reality of things, how it's going. A lot of stuff is cut out and you really can't see it all, but I think it's just fab."

Williams, who has appeared on television shows during her layoff since left knee surgery in August, sees the jeopardy in too much reality TV.

"It's not good for us actresses and stuff," she said. "It's tough. But I figure we can enjoy it while we can."

Williams never figures to hear the words "You're fired" but loves hearing them from Donald Trump on The Apprentice, the hit reality show where the mogul sacks a would-be executive each week.

"I was really into Top Model. I started out with The Bachelor a few years ago here. And ever since then, I don't know, I just like 'You're fired'," said Williams. "I've watched it since the first episode."

One thing Williams cannot stand is videotaping the shows. She wants to know the latest update when the rest of America finds out.

"I like to see them live. It's not fair, a tape delay," said Williams. "People already know what happened. I feel cheated."

So far, the public has been cheated out of a Williams reality show. The woman who would be its star promised it would be a dazzling ratings-grabber.

"It would be a really exciting life," said Williams. "You guys can't believe the life I live. I'm so busy. I never stop. I don't even like getting massages because I'm always going, 'I can't stay. OK I need five minutes.' "I got to move. I'm always moving."
