Canada had the lead 2-1 last time I checked...
But we're at the start of the second period and there have been SIX straight Canadian penalities.

The American is calling nothing on the US team.

Its ridiculous.

Its like since they are not winning- yet- by their own merit the ref has to help them out a little :fiery:

nah- I changed my mind. Its not that bad.
The women are being pretty rough, and the US has gotten a coule calls on them now too.

I'v been watching most of the period going " how is Canada winning this" cause it appeared the US was outplaying them.

I chalked it up to the goal tender.

Then we got that third goal, and it all started to make a little sense..

Hope they can hold on to it

Yes, Becca, you are right! The refferee is calling nothing on the US team! It is not fair, but you know, the US team plays at home and they need some help... but it won't help. The Canadians will make it!!! It is by far the best team!!!

Something similar happened yesterdey in the German vs. US team match (men). The germans had 33 (THIRTYTHREE!!!!!!!!) penalty minutes. and that only during the first 20 minutes. LLLLOOOOLLL. It is impossible!!! The referee did not call anything on the US americans. OK, the US team has been better, but the germans played better during the first 20 minutes and the US Team an d the referee were probably shocked! So... no comment!!! They are americans, the games are in salt lake...

I just don't get it. Why can't they, as any normal sport would, have an actual neutral admonishing neutrality, i.e. refereeing. I bet there are several Russian, Czech, Finn or Swedish refs who would do a nice job.

And we'd avoid all the bitching! Not that there's anything wrong with that, though. It's always a great relief to scream "conspiracy!"

Regarding the men's games, there's an agreement with the NHL that if a certain percentage of the players (I think 60%, but I'm not certain) play in the NHL, then an NHL referee has to be used. I forget whether it was the Sweden-Belarus game, or the USA-Germany game, but one of them had an IIHF referee.

Don't blame the Americans on this. The IIHF and the IOC are desperate to have the NHL players in the Olympics, which is why so many concessions have been made to them (including the preliminary round).

The reffing was atrocious!!! Almost every one of those calls was questionable, even one or two of the USA's penalties were questionable. That ref, I dont think she knew what she was doing, she would call 4 or 5 bad penalties in a row, and then let the real penalties go....in all the games I've sen, even in all the junior games I've been in or watched, I haven't seen officiating like that! But, the important thing is that our team didn't lose their focus, didnt' lose their heads over it until after, and the coach was calm as well, which was good for her team. Way ta go!!! :bounce:

Yeah I totally agree... the reffing was really awful but since Canada won, I'm not going to complain too much ;)

We don't blame the americans for this, we blame the judging system and the american referees, who do not judge fair, when the US teams play. ;)
