Flipkins doesn't really have any weapons to be honest, she has a few nice shots with a bit of variety, but really she's just a counter puncher who hasn't moved on from the juniors, Tszveti should win in straights ;)

Definatley, i mean she could be getting deep into those tier 3 and 4 events and if she had been a bit smarter about her schedule right now she would probably be top 50, she is doing it the hard way playing these top tier events and trying to qualify, she has been losing to the top players in close matches too since the USO like her 2 losses to Jankovic and just recently Safarova but im sure she will have a really good slam this year, maybe Wimbledon, grass is very good for her game, id love to see her on centre court :hearts:

Bulgaria
Feb 11th, 2007, 02:28 PM
I totaly agree with this opinion. Tzveti should play more tournaments from 3 and 4 tier. I remember that this was Vaidisova's way. She was concentrated on the lower tier events, won a few of them and then turn to the bigger once. A lot of played matches helped her to grow like a tennis player. Tzveti has a big talent but she needs to play more and more and this big tournaments don't help her do that. I am very happy from today's win(very very happy). But tommorow is going to be an extremely hard day for Tzveti. Dushevina is in form, Tzveti too and it's going to be very hot on the court. I wish her a lot of luck and let the force be with her :). Let's hope that there will be a livescore because the MD starts.

Its ok, the lights were down and I was using the video thing on my Camera so of course the quality would have been bad
Wow, I never noticed the Dementieva thing but you are right now if I watch it carefully

Here is a bit from my report posted in my thread with my pictures and videos etc of the only Tszveti match I saw, vs Lobbinger. It is a little critical but she won so thats what matters ;)

Pironkova [5] def. [WC] Lobbinger 60 61
As usual, the players entered Centre Court to a glittering disco ball and epic music. This may sound a bit strange, but I kind of like Tszveti, I kind of don’t so basically I am indifferent. I saw Lobbinger play Savchuk in Hasselt last year and that was an awful awful match from my Olga, from what I saw I wasn’t impressed with Lobbinger at all, she is very bland as a player, but she is quite cute though. So the players warmed up. Tszveti was grunting and served quite well. The match was a battle from the baseline, they only approached the net if either they had been A – Dropshotted, B – When the coin was tossed or C, to shake hands It wasn’t the most interesting of matches to watch, although the score looks one sided it wasn’t Tszveti seemed to just want to sit at the baseline and wait for Lobbinger to hit an error. This tactic of course worked, but against a player like Lobbinger, Tszveti should have been much more aggressive and she would have been off court quicker. She was only on court for about 54 minutes but it really could have been shorter. She played quite well though, there were quite a few deuces and lots of rallies though which makes the scoreline look deceiving. In allhonesty, if Tszveti was more aggressive, she should have won this 60 60. The crowd were for Davinia of course. At the end of the match, they shook hands and left the court.

Tsveti definitly needs to play lower tournaments to improve her ranking so she won't need to play qualifications anymore.IMO she is at least as talented as some players in this draw like Bammer or Muller :o She had great results in Stockholm and Istanbul so I don't see why she doesn't keep playing these lower tiers :( Anyway, better luck next time.

probably in the Dubai qualies? I'm not sure too, but last year she went there and lost in the first round, so the good news is that Tsveti doesn't have any points to defend...

well, probably better choice would be Bogota or Memphis...both tournaments are lower tier but Tsveti would pass 2-3 rounds and win a lot of points... In Dubai it will be much harder to do that...

She hasn't got a MD win this year, she lost about 20 places in the ranking for just 2 months... Could she do something memorable after last year's Australian Open, nevertheless she won only 1 match there...
Probably she needs to start playing Tier III or IV events or to take an experienced coach who will learn her how to win matches like this one...

Yeah, but there are 3-4 qualifiers who might be tough opponents like Azarenka, Vakulenko, Kutuzova... but there's no doubt the draw is definitely good, I think Tsveti could beat these girls, Bartoli has only 4 wins and 7 loses this season, so 3rd round is completely possible :)

I agree. However, in 2005 when she made her breakthrough she took part in Tier III or IV events and what was the result? - 2 semifinals and finals in 50K and 75K challengers... Now she plays in huge tournaments and if she passes the qualies it's a success... I think her schedule is too... optimistic

I watched Tzvetana's match against Kanepi in Miami, which made me feel sad because I'm quite fond of her. (Frankly, she didn't play as well as she's capable of playing.) There was one moment that was amusing however. I was sitting in the front row, above her coach and across from the player's chairs. Players were allowed to call for their coaches between sets and I watched many coaches feverishly taking notes during the first set. Usually players, especially if they lost the first set, would call for their coaches during the break. After losing the first set, Tzvetana went to her chair and sat down as her coach looked anxiously over at her, apparently waiting for her to call for him. Tvsetana just sat in her chair and glared at him while he sat looking at her, chomping at the bit to go over and coach her. She never did call for him. She's a very pretty young woman, but if looks could kill, she'd be shopping around for a new coach.

No doubt Tszveti's current poor form is down to personal problems for the most part

Since I don't get t o see Tsveti play live, or pretty much even on tape here in the US, I'm wondering what those of you who do think might be the reason/problems behind her lack of results since pretty much Australia 2006.

Is it mental, physical conditioning, coaching overhyped, an injury or what?

Is she just that far overmatched an having the worst possible luck with the draws? In need of a new coach? The talent looks to be there, but I'm not so sure the desire is. Is burnout/boredom an issue?

Like I said I don;t see the matches, only the scores and what gets posted here. I was hoping for an impressive '07 but the start is nothing short of a huge mess. I haven't given up hope, and there is plenty of tennis to be played still so anything can happen.

your thoughts?

Well, probably you heard about her personal problems. Her father is seriously sick, which for sure has affected Tsveti's game and respectively her results... Tsveti's a fighter, she never let her opponents to win easily, but since March she's losing without any fight - she won 3 games against Bartoli, 4 against Dulko this week, she was beaten in 2 by Kanepi... Also I watched her matches for FedCup and I can tell you that it was sad... Totally lack of motivation, it seemed she was thinking about other things, not about the match...

Anyway, IMO that's the reason for the current slump, but as you told, since Oz Open 06 Tsveti has only 3-4 good wins and one WTA tour SF... of course it's great to see her winning and making descent results but these are not the expected results...

Напълно преодолима според мен, Росолска си е специалист на двойки, лошото е че у дома и стените помагат :(
