The match could well have gone Pironkova's way. Hope she's encouraged. Looking at the stats, 80% 1st serves for Caro, she must be confident. Caro says to danish news, that Pironkova played well and relaxed and did not give her any rythme, so she had to earn it, so to speak. :)

(But it still is luck when it comes to Caro, isn't it :lol:)

Tsveti won't play 75k ITF Monzon tournament which means that her next tournament should be Marbella. She will start from the qualies there so a couple of days in which she can get used to the clay.

It just occured to me that Tsveti might skip Marbella because it's Easter on Sunday and it's normal to prefer to be with her family in Bulgaria. That makes her next tournament Barcelona if I am correct in which I think I am. Her next match should be on the 10th of april when by the way Grigor should play in Johanessburg his first match after the injury timeoff.

And Tsveti has oficially withdrawn from Marbella as I thought so. She will celebrate Easter in Bulgaria which is a better desition. She made a good couple of weeks and totally deserves to take this break. She will recharge and the celebration of the holiday will give her extra powers.

Her next tournament should be Barcelona qualies a week and two days from now when Grigor has to comeback from the injury break and play Johanessburg. Let's hope they will make great tournaments.

If she decides to play it yes she is in the qualies. There is no chance she can get in MD directly. Let's hope she will make good tournaments on clay and get back where she is supposed to be. :worship:

Well she succeeded in that task. The MD cut off for Roland Garros is taken on 12th of april and the first 108 get directly. Tsveti will be 101-103 next week so she is in.

it's probably why she takes some rest at home. and she's right in my opinion. a good rest before the clay season ;)

Yes definitely is. Hope she restored her powers during those two weeks home and play the next tournaments with the same ambition like in the US. Her next match should be on saturday in the first round of qualies in Barcelona.

Yes it is very low. Tsveti won 4 points for a win vs a player who is ranked 91 in the world but this is the ranking system. Since they removed the bonus system from the ranking it's like that. I still think that this was a mistake but nothing we can do.

Too bad for this loss but this girl is a clay player and it isn't something very shocking. Maybe a match vs Malek was going to be something very different. She doesn't have a chance for a LL spot because she's 3rd alternate after Molik and Camerin.
About her next tournament it will be Stuttgart qualies begining on the 24th of april in which period she must train very hard on clay because she has to defend 80 points from there.

Tsveti qualified for the MD in Stuttgart after beating Ivana Lisjak 6-4 6-4. Good Luck and let's hope she will draw the best qualy place which is vs the other qualifier. Please let that happen.

Tsveti drawed a LL in the first round. She will play vs Margalita Chakhnashvili from Georgia. They've played twice so far and Tsveti leads 2-0 in the H2H but the matches were quite a long time ago.

Tsveti should be the total favourite here because she is far ahead in the ranking, the georgian has very few won matches this year and our girl should win this 100 %. Haide Tsveti. We believe in you!!! :yeah:

Poor Tsvetana had to play 5 matches in 6 days and probably flew very early yesterday morning to Rome, go figure she was tired! But I saw her matches in Stuttgart and I was very happy to see her back on tracks. She seemed cool there, with her friends Sesil and Dia. Good luck for the rest of the season Tsvetana!

Not the easiest draw. Upon her is Benesova that won Fes a week ago. And Brianti is quite hard. Their H2H is tied at 1-1. I so hope Tsveti can make the miracle here and qualify. The draw is just amazingly hard for everyone.

Such a great win for Tsveti. The match was 2 hours and 57 minutes and just made me so nervous that at the end of the match my heart beat was pounding like insane.
She just fought so well. We all know how she regularly loses those matches when she wins the first set and loses the second. She trailed 1-3 in the third but managed to win the next 5 from the six played. Yes Dementieva didn't show her best, but a win is a win.
Next match vs Dulgheru - the last year champion and great clay court player. It will be tough but she is beatable. Haide.

After so many matches and hours on the court those few days Tsveti managed to show her best and I really think that if she had a day off today and the quarterfinals were on friday she could of won this match. Dulgheru didn't show something very special and Na Li could of played with somebody else tomorrow.
Now good luck with the draw tomorrow. Hopefully she will draw an unseeded player and make a good tournament at Roland Garros either. :)

Don't want to sound pesimistic but there is no way Tsveti can beat Henin on clay. She is the favourite for the title here and I won't wonder if she wins the crown after two weeks. Our girl just didn't had the luck at all. Let's hope we can at least watch the match.

Her next tournament is most probably Eastbourne qualies begining next saturday. She usually skips Birmingham after Roland Garros and plays only one grass tournament before Wimbledon. I bet she will do this that year as well. :)

Not the easiest first round opponent but if Tsveti manages to serve like she did in Roland Garros she will make her chances very good. Srebotnik is not in her best singles records this year so Tsveti should take advantage. She plays far better in doubles so Tsveti help her concentrate on that in Eastbourne. Haide.

Very tough match but Tsveti managed to win it. I'm so proud of her because she showed she could win those matches from a lost first set. And Srebotnik won RG mixed and played doubles final a week ago. Doubles players usually perform well on grass.

IT’s not just the temperature and the price of strawberries going up at Wimbledon...so are the hemlines.

As the mercury soared to a scorching 75F (24C) in glorious sunshine on the opening day in SW19 yesterday, the women players were also sending temperatures through the roof.

With increasingly daring hemlines, Bulgaria’s Tsvetana Pironkova (picture) led the way with an outfit that left little to the imagination. And as Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic made quick work of knocking out British hope Laura Robson, 16, on Centre Court, her flowing skirt kept billowing up to reveal not only her white underwear but also a tantalising show of midriff.

Marion Bartoli's dreams of setting up a repeat encounter of the 2007 Wimbledon final match up with Venus Williams were dashed by Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova.

The 22-year-old, who is enjoying her most successful Wimbledon, simply outplayed the 11th seed to scoop a 6-4, 6-4 victory. It was the first time she has beaten the Frenchwoman during their four meetings.

Pironkova was made to fight, however, and in the beginning it looked as though the match would go the way of Bartoli. The 25-year-old commanded the court with her pace of shot and fired off winners all over the show to steal an early break.

But with hard-hitting baseline rallies aplenty, it did not take the Bulgarian long to work out Bartoli's game. Pironkova began reading the ball better to break back and, buoyed by confidence, finally found her own rhythm, which served to pile the pressure on her French opponent.

When the winners started to fly off the Bulgarian's racket, Bartoli began to despair. The looks to her camp grew more frequent; as did her heel-kicking between shots but it was to no avail - Pironkova was in her element and there was nothing she could do. By the end of the one hour and 55 minute duel, the 22-year old had fashioned 42 winners compared with Bartoli's 27.
Now Pironkova will face Venus Williams in her first ever quarter-finals - a match she will undoubtedly relish. She defeated the American at the 2006 Australian Open in the first round. The victory was her first top 10 win and Venus's first Grand Slam loss in more than five years.

Just want to say best of luck in the Semi, I have always had a soft spot for Tsveti, as quite a few of the crew aboard the SS Lena D do seem to have.

Shes a lovely girl and I adored her interview yesterday, she really is a gorgeous girl indeed.
She played VERY well against Venus and can certainly win against Vera if she keeps up her form.

I couldnt believe how cool and calm she was during her QF, she was rock solid and really wound Venus up, she wouldnt be bossed and stayed strong....

I have seen Tsveti live a few times at Eastbourne and accidentally pinched her seat at Edgbaston a few years ago, but I soon shifted when this tall imposing girl headed by way laden with bags.

So, best of luck...

Yeah Tsveti played wonderful in the first hour - then Zvonareva had her first BP of the match... in the first set Tsveti made only 4 UEs which was gigantic... and her winners :drool:

In the second hour of the match Tsveti didn't have any chances I think - too many errors and Zvonareva take advantage of them

What a Wimbledon it was - I really really hope Tsveti will play many more tournaments like this and will enter at least Top 30 until the end of the year! That's the place she belongs to ;) :yeah:

I can't believe what she did! You know, the bulgarian nation is usually not the most united one in the world, but sport achievements like this are somehow changing everybody for a day or two. I can't describe you the euphoria there was around here, it was not happening from years. I sincerely hope that this semifinal is going to boost her confidence for the future, because no doubt she has the skills for something more. Like some of the Wimbledon commentators said during the game - "where have you been so far?"

And she started playing on grass just 5 years ago, can you believe that .. it takes just 5 years to start learning on this surface and beat Venus Williams, who is 5 time Wimbledon winner. Unbelievable. Love you, Tzveti!

Tsveti made the tournament of her life so far. That two weeks were absolutely amazing as for her, for me and all the bulgarian fans of the tennis and not only. Despite the loss today she showed that the future is ahead of her. Zvonareva just managed to break Tsveti's game and made very few UE's, was very stable at every place on the court.

Bulgaria loves you Tsveti!!! I wish you all the best in the future and let's hope the tournaments like this will keep coming. Love you!!! :worship:I think Tsvetana has a big future. Her loss to Vera Zvonareva today in the Wimbledon semifinals has to hurt her alot because she played such a fine first set. Alexandra Stevenson and Mirjana Lucic both made the Wimbledon semfinals in 1999 and that was their career highlights. Their Wimbledon semifinals were flukes because they had a hot 2 weeks but were very incomplete players which is why their careers were overall dissapointments. I don't think Pironkova's 2010 Wimbledon seminfal is a fluke because she has power, a good serve, groundstroke variety and is a good athlete. Tsvetana should be able to play good tennis on all surfaces. Her future is bright. I think Pironkova should become at the very least a top 20 player and I think she has the ability to be a top 10 player.

On a side note Tsvetana is a lovely girl. I just wish she would think more of herself as a player and expect to be a top player because she should be with her fine game.

TSVETANA PIRONKOVA: Yeah, there are many things that I need to improve in my game to progress more, like I need to be more consistent during the match. I need to stay aggressive all the time, and, of course, try to put my first serve more in the court.

There are many things that I should work, and I will do it with pleasure. Now I have lots of motivation, so I'll be happy to work.

She said in the pressconference after the match that her next tournament will be Palermo, then most probably Istanbul & Copenhagen. Before the US Open she will play New Haven like always.
She has a very good chance to be seeded for the USO because Henin won't play and if she makes good resuls in the Europe tournaments she can do it. She don't have any points to defend those two months and needs around 150 to make it. Hopefully she will. :)

Well the flag says "Tsveti we are proud of you". There weren't too many fans as you see but it was very late around 00:00 and maybe that was the reason for it and let's not forget that Tsveti is from Plovdiv and there will be a lot of people at her club - Lokomotiv Plovdiv where there will be a party at her honour. At Monday she will be declared a freeman (didn't knew the english word but aparently this means something like a honorable citizen) for the city of Plovdiv.
The BTF gave her this golden cup which you see on one of the pictures. In the pressconference right after her arrival she gave a little interview with her father and mother next to her. There were a lot of journalists from all the bulgarian tv and internet media. Don't know do you know but she is number one news during this week. She is like on every tv, news, internet site. She is like a hero for us in the moment. She totally deserve it. Every bulgarian speaks about her and is very proud and fond of her at the moment. And that's not only the tennis fans.
In the interview she said that didn't expect to reach those part of the tournament. She thought that 2nd or 3rd round was most likely to happen and never thought this would happen. She said that she is very motivated now and she will give all her strength in the tournaments she plays. I think everybody knows about her hotel problem and I won't translate it. Then her father talked a little bit. He is quite extraordinary. Well about the else she didn't say something quite diffrent from her pressconference after the matches in Wimbledon. The interview was not very long because maybe the media attention is just too much in the last days and she wants to take a little break from everything and the flight got late, she is probably very tired. Next week there will be more TV interviews for the morning shows as I understood. If there is something I will post it.

Well she received as a gift a sculpture of the greek goddess Nike made by Stavri Kalinov a bulgarian sculptor. And about the tennis magazine for a pitty we doesn't haven't any. That's just awful because we had one a couple of years ago but it didn't last too much. Let's hope after the recent successes of Tsveti, Grigor and others there will be more interest of starting a new one. :)
