Amazing result. Tsveti is just on fire and in such a great form. Such a pitty that the draw was awful for her for the million time. Always playing the highest seeds. It will be so tough to beat Henin in her home tournament in front of such a big crowd. Let's hope that she will make the surprise here. I want it so badly. I will cross my fingers in Thursday at 20:30 BG time when the match starts. Haide Tsvetana. Crush this belgian a**.

Very convincing wins so far for Tsveti, but against Henin it's gonna be hard. Hopefully Pironkova will show her best, she doesn't have nothing to lose.

Good luck, girl!

LOL, it would be amazing if Tszveti could win but i just really can't see it. Tszveti will have Henin and 15000 Belgians against her and she's bound to be a bit tired. I hope she gives her a good match and maybe take a set if she plays her best.

Prove me wrong Tszveti. :rocker2:

well played Tsveti :yeah:

she had her chance at 3-1 in the second
there were 3 tough calls and Henin had luck :bigcry:

I think everyone of us thinks Tsveti could have actually won today :)

she plays really good vs the top players and that makes me continue to think that she IS one of them

don't forget that this year she already had SP vs world's number two and won a set vs world's number one in a match which lasted 2h30mins ;)

Great play, indeed! Such a pity that a few tough calls can turn a game upside down anytime... And Henin is tough, she doesn't give up against anyone. I am sure that the loss against Sharapova in the Australian Open has left her smarting and even hungrier for wins.

But Tsveti is getting better and better and i am sure we'll see her in the top 50s soon. Go Tsveti!!!!

It is really a mystery which will be Tsveti's next tournament. Some local bulgarian sport sites wrote that Sesil received a QWC for Memphis and that Tsveti will play there too starting from the MD. The Memphis site shows that our girl is in the acceptance list too, but Tobi says the opposite. We thought Tsveti will play Doha and today we so she isn't playing it. The interesting thing here is that Tsveti never plays Memphis and when I red that she commited there I was trully surprised because she has to stay in the US a week and a half to wait for the IW and this doesn't suit her. Maybe she will take 3 weeks off the tour and her next tournament will be IW. This is my iopinion. Maybe Dreylau has some information because he was in contact with her this week. So Dreylau write here if you know something.

I checked Tsveti's points from last season and realised that from now she has to defend only 3 MD wins till Stockholm (IW, Istanbul and Birmingham)
Or in other words she has to gain exactly 100 points more in order to enter in top 50.

Here are the points to defend:

3 of March, Doha - 1pt.
17 of March, IW - 25pts.
3 of April, Miami - 1pt.
29 of April, Budapest - 1pt.
6 of May, Warsaw - 15pts.
13 of May, Prague - 1pt.
20 of May, Istanbul - 20 pts.
6 of June, Roland Garros - 2pts.
17 of June, Birmingham - 10pts.
23 of June, Eastbourne - 5 pts.
7 of July, Wimbledon - 2 pts.
15 of July, ITF Biella - 18 pts.
22 of July, Palermo - 1 pt.

Totally - 102 pts.

Sooo, Tsveti has a real chance to enter in top 50, if she wins a few rounds in the bigger tournaments :rocker2:

I think it's different for every player. I can't see how you expect to get out of a slump by sitting out and not playing. Even as much as you practice and work out, it's not the same as match conditions.

but that might not be what's suits her best....?

she might have been tired from antwerp , i think her plan was to go to doha and dubai, but guessing she was too tired for doha, i dont think it was worth the plane ticket and the trip to go all the way from bulgaria for simply one tournament(dubai) in which she mgiht not even get in the MD considering the draw.

I can understand her being tired or not wanting to spend the
time and money traveling to a tournament she might not even get into.

but like so many have said, what works for one player, doesn't work for all.

regardless of that, good luck in whatever tournament she does go to next.

JR you are ridiculous! In the past few months you are saying only shits about Sesil in her thread and now you move in Tsveti`s thread to say what ? I guess if there is a thread in the Bulgarian kingdom about a guy who shoots his parents and his sisters you will say that Sesil told you that once she try to kill her family then she wanted to eat them :help: :cuckoo:

When they were kids Sesil took Dia`s toy and broke it. After that she cut Elitsa`s finger but her father somehow manage to keep it cool and the doctors save Elitsa. At that time Sesil kidnap Encho and force Tsvetana to loose a match from Sesil. But that`s not all!!! She send a mail (I have it as a proof) telling that she will kill Tsvetana`s family if they dont switch religion to Islam coz Sesil is a BIG fan of Osama bin Laden (she also take part of the plane crashes at 09/11)... I know that its truth , few years ago she told me that !!! And yeah , I`m not mentally fucked up !!!

Tsvetana lost 4-6 5-7. I don't know what to write because I am so pissed off. She missed every chance she had to win this match and she really deserved to lose it. She equaled the games 5-5 in the second set, had 2 GP and breaked again. Better luck next time which is after a lot of time. Whatever I don't have to be so nervous about it.

Unfortunately I'm beginning to agree. She just can't seem to win these close sort of matches against players like Wozniacki. I can already go through a long list of them through her career.

IW 2006: L to Azarenka 3-6 6-1 6-4
Berlin 2006: L to Kremer 6-4 7-5
Birmingham 2006: L to Schiavone 3-6 6-3 6-1
Wimbledon 2006: L to Radwanska 7-5 7-6
Budapest 2006: L to Krajicek 7-5 6-7 6-1
Stockholm 2006: L to Zheng 6-2 7-6
Stuttgart 2006: L to Jankovic 4-6 6-2 7-5
Zurich 2006: L to Jankovic 3-6 6-4 6-1
Bratislava 2006: L to Cibulkova 7-6 6-4

Paris 2007: L to Safarova 6-3 6-7 6-3
Istanbul 2007: L to Sharapova 6-4 7-6
RG 2007: L to S.Williams 5-7 6-1 6-1

Sydney 2008: L to Cibulkova 6-2 1-6 6-4
AO 2008: L to Kuznetsova 7-6 6-2
Antwerp 2008: L to Henin 6-7 6-3 6-1
IW 2008: L to Bondarenko 6-3 7-6
Miami 2008: L to Wozniacki 6-4 7-5

In comparison to the quality opposition she's beaten

Istanbul 2005: def Shaughnessy 6-3 7-5
Istanbul 2005: def Peer 6-3 7-6

AO 2006: def V.Williams 2-6 6-0 9-7
Paris 2006: def Sfarova 6-2 2-6 6-0
Warsaw 2006: def Srebotnik 6-1 6-1
Wimbledon 2006: def Groenefeld 3-6 6-3 6-1
Stockholm 2006: def Li 6-2 7-6
Stuttgart 2006: def Sprem 6-1 6-4

Paris 2007: def Radwanska 3-6 6-4 6-3
Bordeaux 2007: def Cornet 6-2 6-3

IW 2008: def Domachowska 6-4 6-2

I only put in players who at the time were in-form or ranked highly.

There are all the tight matches Tszveti has lost against quality opposition since 2006. She should have won at least half of them. I feel it was a bad thing now that she beat Venus in a slam so early in her career. It put too much pressure on her shoulders.

I really hope Tszveti can turn it around from here, and hopefully win some of these matches against quality opposition. I think she can prove me wrong. :p

Hello everybody.
I am so happy because after my little adventure on Wednesday in the Davis Cup in Plovdiv I finally saw Tsveti. She was practising on one of the courts with her father and previously with some local player. From one of the fans I understood that on Tuesday she practised with our tennis hope Grigor Dimitrov. She is in form I think. She travels for Estoril on Saturday and I wish a lot of luck. I couldn't take her autograph because she came too late in the day. She wasn't on the match Bulgaria-Cot D'Ivoire to cheer and after she finished her practise they left with her father from one of the close exits and I couldn't find her anymore. The next time it will be more. :)

And now its 3-6 1-4

Why Tsvetana can`t win 2 matches in a row even at Tier IV  In the last two years she is between 70 - 100 place in the ranking... Maybe this is her real place and I`m deluding myself that her place is in the top50  Dont know ...Anyway I hope that Tsveti will come back and win that match but somehow I dont believe it

match ended in a typical way coming back to 4-5, saving 2 MPs and then getting broken :o

Tsveti lost the match 6-3 6-4.

I just didn't expect that at all. After the good match on Monday I thought she could do something here, but it didn't happen. She had a litlle chance in the second set when she was trailing 5-2 and managed to return to 5-4 and her serve but she lost it again. Another second round loss. Good luck in Prague Tsveti.

Corswandt's report from Tszveti's 1st round has me optimistic though. She needs to just put things together. She still has time.

Tsvetana... I really can't get how she has lost againt Pin on her favourite surface :o

Does she really have the potential to reach the Top 50? Because in the last 3 years she's barely achieving good wins in the MDs, she's wasting great chances to go deep in most of the tournaments... Is it because of her poor scheduling or it's only due to her disability to win close and important matches? I really don't know, but for sure that's not the right way to achieve some serious results...

...in the last 3 years she's barely making good wins in the MDs, she's wasting great chances to go deep in most of the tournaments...

Agreed completely. Its' a shame to have a potential top 50 player such as her to be around 70-100. She can raise her game against the top players, but she cannot win close matches with players near her in the rankings.

She has very little points to defend from now until Wimbledon, which gives her every chance to work her way up the rankings. She really needs to take that chance and :

- take chances she has in close matches
- advance deeper into draws
- get some sort of consistency going.

She needs to do these to get to the top 50, but some things have prevented her from doing so, for 2+ years. These could be anything that people here have brought up. They have caused her ranking and game to stagnate, most likely will need a lot of sorting out, and might not necessarily be able to be solved overnight. How to overcome these I don't know, but I'm sure we are all hoping for her sake she will, soon, while still she still has time.

I think she can turn it around, she's still young and she's a fighter. ;)

Maybe she needs a new coach too. Just a thought. Her game hasn't really gone anywhere since 2006, she still has the same flaws and if anything her FH is worse.

She's so talented, I think she just needs more direction.

Could be a few reasons why she is stuck in the 70-100 range.

I may be deluding myself as well, thinking she should be top 50, but I do believe she is more capable than her results show.

Nonetheless, I wish her the best of luck for Prague :yeah:.

We must support her in every moment (it's hard in same times but we must do it) .

Dushevina Vera [RUS] vs. Muller Martina [GER]
Qualifier vs. Pironkova Tsvetana [BUL]
Lapushchenkova Anna [RUS] vs. Peer Shahar [ISR] (2)

Not the worst and not the best. Everything is possible here. I only hoped one thing Tsveti not to draw Zvonareva and it happend. Now I believe Tsveti can make something here. Haide.

Playing against a qualifer for the 1st round is always a diffcult match because the qualifer has already 2 or 3 matchs, so I don't like so much this 1st round. But I think Tsvetana can make great things on this tournament. So I wish her good luck!
Peer plays Fed Cup this week end and she lost against Kvitova so maybe she won't be in the best shape. Many players played Fed Cup so maybe it will be a little difficult for them, whatever I hope it ;)

Hey guys!!

I`m in Prague this week and yesterday I managed to watch live Tsveti`s first round match!! I came on the courts a bit late because it was very hard to find the tennis center - it`s located on an island and I must say it`s not easy at all to get there! :o So, I arrived at the very end of the first set when Tsveti was 5-1 up. She won the seventh game and thus the set when it began to rain. She talked a bit with the umpire, but the match was not stopped. Tsveti looked a bit unsure in the beginning of the second because of the rain. She made a DF and some easy UEs in the opening game and got broken. That gave some confidence to Ivanova, she played a solid service game and made the result 2-0. Tsveti talked again with the umpire and finally the match was postponed. I went to the nearby cafe where I saw Kraijchek and Dushevina. But the bad thing was that there were some pretty heavy clouds and it seemed it might rain all day. I was about to leave when it was announced the matches will start again at 12-45 (?!). So, I decided to wait on the center court and at about 12-40 the rain almost stopped!! When the match started I realized that there were about 120 people and almost all of them were cheering for Tsveti! She won her service, than broke Ivanova at love. The Russian seemed very frustrated and threw her racket on the court. I thought she would lose easily but I have to say she`s a great fighter. I did not know nothing about her before this match but she has pretty heavy shots, she runs for every ball and produced some surprisingly good drop shots. But her problem was that she could not stay too long in the rallies and usually ended with a UE. On the other side Tsveti played her game, made some great winners and a couple of aces. However, I noticed she has a really dangerous first serve. Ivanova was barely returning it around the T-zone but instead of winning the point Tsveti continued the rally. The crucial moment of the match was at 4-all on Tsveti`s serve when she started the game with a UE, then Ivanova hit luckily the net, another UE for Tsveti and 0-40. But in this moment she showed her best, saved the BPs with a couple of huge first services. Ivanova threw again her racket and when I thought again she will lose, she just improved her game and held thanks to her winners, not due to Tsveti`s mistakes. She continued playing very good in the TB, but Tsveti was more patient and won 3 consecutive points from 3-all. She missed 2 MPs with UE but hit a great serve on the third one and won with a FH winner. After the match I talked with her for a while and we took a pic together. I made about 15-20 pics of her match and a few of the match between Amanmuradova and Kraijchek, but I`ll post them when I return in Sofia. I`m planning to go tomorrow, too and hopefully this time the weather would be fine.
