Tsveti is 2nd alternative for the qualies in Luxembourg. Hope there is a chance for her to play there because she is in form. Let someone withdraw please. Do anyone from here thinks that she will make it and has a chance.

Where did you see the entry list please?

Well I have good news now. Two players have withdrawn from Luxembourg Open and now on last qualifying place is Tsveti. That's superb news.

The bad news is that the qualifying is going to be very tough. There will be some top players. Hope Tsveti doesn't withdraw and make it to the MD and then more.

It's official now. Tsveti will play Luxembourg. She gave a little interview for the bulgarian web site www.racketi.com Here what she said:
"I am so pleased and happy from the Bordeaux title, I think I've played very well. I hope I will keep my good performance. It's a problem that in France I won ot clay, because in Luxemburg I will play on Deco Turf, which is the same pave like the US Open, but I hope that I will adapt very fast.
That is all. I hope my translation is good.

Tszveti's Qualy section in Luxembourg

(1) DULKO Gisela (ARG) vs (WC) SCHAUL Claudine (LUX)
ONDRASKOVA Zuzana (CZE) vs MIHALACHE Magda (ROU)
BEYGELZIMER Yuliya (UKR) vs ARN Greta (GER)
SAVCHUK Olga (UKR) vs (8) PIRONKOVA Tsvetana (BUL)

Savchuk beat her her last year, so hoping for revenge this time around. Its a tough draw, but Please Qualify, Aide ;)

I think this draw is not so bad, but Dulko can be big problem.
Good luck Tsveti !

Well I saw Savchuk results this year. I can say that she is better on clay and I hope Tsveti can take advantage of that. The draw is really not very good because there are very tough opponents. Hope Tsveti qualifies. It's very important. I trully hope that there is livescore too.

Tsveti def. Savchuk 6-3 6-1 :)
She had some problems in the first set - didn't manage to hold her first 2 service games and was 1-3 down. But after that won 5 games in a row :)

She'll face Greta Arn in the second round who defeated Beygelzimer 6-3 6-2.

And the statistics from the match:

Pironkova:

1st serve: 50%
Aces: 1
Double faults: 3
Pts won on first serve: 21/31 (67%)
Pts won on second serve: 17/30 (56%)
Receiving pts won: 25/43 (58%)
Break pts won: 5/6
Break pts saved: 6/8
Total pts won: 63/104 (62%)

I just can't accept this result yet. I have no words. I was so excited during the match, while folowing it live that you can't imagine. When ih became 6-5 in the third I thougn everything is going to finish well, but no 6-6. Then 6-5 in the TB. Thought again I will see 4-6 6-3 7-6. But no again. She lost it and the interesting that she done everything she could to win it but I can say the oposite too. She had so many chances and lost them. the bad thing is that is the old Tsvetana losing a lot of chances(from the beginning of 2007 to the end of july). Hope i am wrong. I expect Stuttgart and hope she won't withdraw. I was so dissapointed from this loss yes she fought which is good but. I had so big expectations and what The f***ing Arn won. I am so crying right now.

Hey there! :wavey:

I can't and won't say "I'm sorry" or so, cos I'm not. But I beg BHulgaria to chill. Dont blame Pironkova for having choked at 6-5 on her own serve. This is just so common in women's tennis, keep watching is. A girl serving for the match is just SO set to lose her serve, very common behaviour.

Greta was just lucky today, she was unlucky in her last matches since Wimbledon where she lost 3 times because of a tie break. The scales will be even in the end of the year, Tsvetana will mature from this defeat and come back stronger.

Peace out. :)

OK I was very harsh with Tsvetana, I agree with that. About the blaming, you are right too. I was just very nervous because I wanted her to win so badly and she almost did it and because I reacted like that. If she lost 6-2 in the decisive set I was going to except the loss but losing so many chances no no and no. If you can't understand it OK, but that's me. Pironkova is my favourite player, I just support only her so badly. That's all.

Tsvetana, what's your opinion about season 2007?

- It hasn't finished yet. Few tournaments are remaining and I hope I'll do well.

There was a slump in your game during the first half of the season. What was the reason and how did you manage to overcome it?

- Well, it's a sport, it's a tennis. There are moments when you feel great on the court. But of course there are moments when you are not in a perfect shape and that effects your game.

What's the reason to reach the semifinals again in Stocholm?

- Actually, last year I played very well there and reached this phase, too. The tournament in Sweden is great, the courts are located on the Olympic stadium and the atmosphere is amazing. Probably that's the reason for my good performances there.

Why you didn't manage to reach a final in a WTA tournament in your 3rd year as a professional?

- Well, my personal aim is to develop my game, to play with pleasure. One day I think I will acheive the desired results.

Your opinion about your title in Bordeux? Did you gain more confidence after it?

- Of course this title is one of my biggest successes so far. It was a great joy for me.

Which victory from this season you'll remember and why?

- I'll remember all my matches, which I have played, nevertheless how did they end.

Have you been offered money in order to lose a match?

- No, never. Of course I won't admit such an offer. I haven't heard about such cases in the Tour.

The Bulgarian Fed Cup team will look sronger next year, if Sesil Karatancheva joins you. Do you plan to play doubles together in order to bring back Bulgaria in the World Group?

- Well, if we will be together in the team, probably we will play doubles. But I haven't seen Sesil and we haven't talked about that.

Does Sesil have a chance to return stronger or she won't impress after the ban?

- I wish Sesil only health and many successes!!!

Your opinion about the Olympic games in Beijing and do you expect to play there?

- The games are huge event. Of course I hope to play in China next year and I'll try to improve my ranking in order to qualify there.

Where will you start the next season?

- In Australia.

...

In the end Tsveti says she has signed a contract with the menager agency SFX.

Tsvetana, what's about opinion about season 2007?

Probably. That is the information I read in a few bulgarian sport web sites. Yesterday The Bulgarian Tennis Federation determined the best tennis players for the year in Bulgaria. Tsveti was determined as the best female tennis player(which is more than normal)and after that she gave a few interviews. There she said that she would start the year with the Sydney qualies.

Good evening again and thank you all for the warm welcome;)

The day today DID NOT go as planed, the weather was atrocious, some of the men managed to finish their qualifying matches and the rest was rain...stop...rain...stop...rain... you get the picture. Tsveti did her training in the morning, finished aroud 11 a.m. local time and then spent the rest of the day in her room with her sister as there was nothing else to do.:(
The rain finally stopped (kind of) after 6 p.m. and she was waiting to start her match (last one on Court 4), but they cancelled the play after the previous match finished!!!:mad::mad::fiery: All the lights were on, no rain, mild weather - the playing conditions were perfect and she was ready to go. Now she has to play 2 matches tomorrow. The schedule of play is not out yet (except for Centre Court), but she told me that her match won't be earlier that 11:30 a.m. local time. I hope that helps!

She only managed to do a bit of training with her sister tonight, but it was disappointing. I actually told her she has lots of support on the forum, she is grateful for that. Keep your fingers crossed all day tomorrow, guys! Unfortunately it may rain even more and play may be interrupted again. Yuliana Fedak from Ukraine, for example, started warming up ar 10 a.m. in the morning and finally finished her match at 20:30!!!:rolleyes:

Thank you SOOOO much for that. Where did you get the info from? Can't be from the "official" Medibank International site because that is updated slower than any self-respecting snail.:o

Would you happen to also know when are the first matches of Diego Hartfield and Yuliana Fedak tomorrow? And whether Igor Andreev and Juan Del Potro would be playing at all? Sorry to ask you so many questions:hatoff:

Tsveti lost 26 61 46

she was 14 down in the last set, levelled to 44 had 0-30 on Cibulkova's serve but that was all ...

she still has chances for MD as Mauresmo and Li have withdrawn ...
if Dechy and Obziler are really injured (both have retired in their qr3 matches) Tsveti is already in the MD as LL

still a great opportunity missed after the big comeback in the last set

But it seems that in this match Cibulkova was the bigger fighter :(

I do not really agree with that... Not to take anything from Cibulkova, she is a fighter, especially after the long match she had just before, but Tsveti was fighting back all right. She had a great second set, got injured and had to get some medical time out after winning the fist 3 games of the second set. She seemed all right afterwards (we couldn't unerstand exactly wich muscles were hurt), and she pressed on. She obviously felt something in the third set as well, but she was fighting!

About this match, though, I have one thing to say: the most unforced errors were made by the umpire :fiery::fiery::fiery::devil: How could every single person in the audience cheer for a Pironkova's winner, no calls from the lines man and then the points all of a sudden go to Cibulkova?!?!?:banghead::banghead::banghead::bangh ead: He had a few "corrections" like that out of nowhere and really got on all Pironkova supporters' nerves, because they were all against her! That was the first time in my life I have considered assaulting a tennis umpire...:smash::smash: That cost Tsveti a few valuable points and you can imagine the disappointment after a hard match like that... She would have had a few more aces under her belt and a couple of beautiful winners...

Unfortunately, after the initial euphoria after the win against Zakopalova (and what a win that was!!!:D:lol::lol:) we have to wait for the LL results.
Dechy did withdraw in the match against Fedak, Fedak was leading comfortably (5:3) but Dechy was playing with a bandage on her leg, indeed. I was very surprised, therefore, to see Dechy in the MD today against Tatiana Golovin! I would have expected Tsveti to get the LL by now as she played the last women's match last night and lost by just a bit. Obziler got smashed, she can't be the next in the LL list! By right the person who lost with the least difference should be going through...

I'm going to the tennis soon, so I'll see. All we can do is pray for Tsveti now. By the way, I told her there is so much suport for her in this forum and that you are waiting for pictures. Australian Open

Louis Cyphre
Jan 7th, 2008, 06:28 PM

Nidalgina

Jan 7th, 2008, 06:58 PM

"Vacancies in the Main Draw may only be filled by Lucky Losers. Lucky Losers are those players who have lost in the final round of Qualifying. If additional Lucky Losers are needed they shall be selected from losers in previous round(s) in the same manner.Lucky Losers shall be selected as follows: The order of the ranked players shall be randomly drawn, thereafter the order of the unranked players shall be drawn.

Sorry, Dreylau and Lenavee! That is why I try to stick to English only.:)
The discusseion, was indeed about the LL rules and the fact that the ITF might have changed them to a draw between the highest ranking players, but the WTA has not. I spoke with Tsveti and Elisaveta yesterday, the LL rule for Medibank International obviously is the first ranked gets the LL first. And they know they can withdraw in the last qualifier if they have higher ranking and still play in the MD!!! So that's why they withdrew...
Doesn't seem that fair to me... We were only hoping that Yankovic may not play, but she did, and well at that. She moved some discomort at the end of the 3rd set, I thought, but she held in and won.

Tsveti did her last training in Sydney yesterday and I took some pictures for you. I hope I can make them small enough to post them on the "photo bucket":)The requirement on that site are actually 3 times smaller than what I have and even with the lowest quality setting on Photoshop I cannot get them so tiny. And I can't guarantee the quality after all that shrinking either...:( But keep your fingers crossed, I'll try today.

Also keep your fingers crossed for Tsveti, of course!!!! They left for Melbourne today, let's wish her the best of luck:bounce::bounce::bounce::kiss:
