Martina Nejedly is a Palm Springs resident. I don't have any idea why they gave Anne Mall a WC.

I saw in another thread that both of them won qualifying events for the wildcard -- good for them!

Martina is a pretty regular tournament player in the California area, I believe she played a bunch of events last year and made the finals of almost all of them losing to Hana Sromova.

Shame that she gave up playing pro so early because she was a decent player but it's a hard life and I am sure no fun being on the road lonely so much. I'd love to see her give it another go, she gave a good match to Samantha by the looks of it and maybe now she is a bit wiser and mature enough to handle the stresses that come with being a pro player. I miss both of the Nejedly's, glad to see one of them get a WC here though and make a decent showing :)

I remember that Jana Nejedly almost upset Nathalie Tauziat some years ago at the Us Open. I thought that Jana was really good and can crack the top-100.
