What else is new? More injuries on the WTA Tour.

I wasn't surprised at Amelie, but I thought Sandrine would be well enough to play. Well, at least Venus, Jennifer and Justine are still entered, but some expect Jennifer and Justine to withdraw.

With Mauresmo, Petrova, Testud out, with Venus, Capriati and Henin all doubtful this could be another effective Tier IV..

Since when have there been so many injuries??

Serena
Venus
Amelie
Jennifer
Monica
Chanda

6 of the world's best out with injuries. What does that say about the current tour??

Then we have others like Petrova, Testud, Tulyaganova, Cho, etc.

I didn't know Nadia was entered. I guess she is still suffering from the gluteal injury.

Who's gonna be seeded one?

I thin the top four seeds were suposed to be Justine, Amelie, Venus and Jennifer, but now they would be Justine (if she plays), Venus, Jennifer (if she plays) and the next highest ranked player.

Add Kim with the unhealed ankle, Lindsay with whatever she has left, Patty limping in Antwerp and Francesca with a bad toe and Sugiyama, Myskina and Zvonereva could soon be wondering why they are the only top 16 players out there.

Sandrine possibly, but I would be very surprised if we see Amelie before Indian Wells and if we don't see her there, she may be back in late April to play a warmup before the French Open. With Amelie, it depends on how bad her muscle tear in her back is.

Wasn't Amelie's injury said to have been a tear in the back muscle. That sounds alot like what Venus tore 9though abdominal) . Judging from what happened with Venus she kept hoping she would be back the next week and each week she couldn't make it. Amelie's case is becoming the same. she remains entered in each tourny and days before she realises that she can't make it. Unlike an injury like say Seles, Lindsay's and Serena's after the operation, they knew for a fact they would be gone a long while. If that is the case, it may take longer that everyone expects for Amelie to fully recover.

I don't know how close her injury is to Venus's but Amélie suffered a similar intercostal tear last year in Rosmalen and her first tourney back was Toronto. I think that was a good month of lay off at least.

with the rate she is withdrawing from various tournaments, she wont be gaining any grounds towards better ranking, unless she plays Indian Wells and Miami, there is pretty much ZERO chance she will get a higher ranking that what she has now

Get well soon, ladies! Geez, one match back on the main tour, and Sandrine has already caught up to the top 10 players. Just not in the way we want. :(

As this rate, never mind the wild cards, Elke Clijsters might soon be seeded.

This is getting pretty depressing. Do you guys think anything in particular causes all these injuries- too long a season maybe? The WTA is very lucky a Slam isn't coming up.
