who are they? i guess it depends on the country. i was reading that thread about elke getting all these wc's and i wondered if elke sells tickets?
if you were a tournament director and could had any 8 players that you wanted, who would you choose?
i'd like:
1. anna kournikova. preferrably to play, if not, then at least to sign autographs. she's still the tickets selling queen. maybe iglesias would come out and watch.
2. serena williams.
3. venus williams.
4. monica seles.
5. justine henin-hardenne.
6. daniela hantuchova / jelena dokic / maria sharapova (2 out of 3)
8. martina navratilova to play doubles

I think they are the ones tournaments generally include in their promotions and are the ones who will pull the most crowds, afterall they are the big names.

Elke was included to make KIM Clijstrers and family happy. Including Elke even gets the sisters into the doubles draw, a bonus for the fans. Without her last name Elke couldn't get a wildcard into a challenger event.

Read the GOLDEN EXEMPT they are the girl who sell tickets because that list include the top rakings players and the players who organizers choose.
