View Full Version : Match Report - Jelena Dokic vs. Tatiana Panova

In this match netiehr player played their best tennis. They both made heaps of unforced errors. Jelena's backhand was working well. She hit many inside-out backhand winners. But I must say she's still far from her best and so is Tatiana. I didn't see her match against Dementieva but today match makes me wonder how it was possible if Tatiana had played as sloppy as she did against Jelena. Elena might have played real poorly. Jelena still looked very rusty dumping a lot of shots in the net and she wasn't moving as well as she was when she was playing well. There still seems a lot of room in her game she needs to work on to raise her level. The scoreline was one-sided but Jelena wasn't nearly as dominant as it indicates. Tatiana just made a lot of easy errors and for her style which is to bring back many balls, playing like that there's no way she can beat a player like Jelena.

Overrall it wasn't a good match. There are a few positives for Jelena fans. She looked very happy on the court and was enjoying herself out there. She hit occasional good shots. She needs to string them together to beat higher ranked players. The same goes about her serve. She hit a few aces as well as tentative ones which Tatiana tried to pounce on but then failed to take advantage of. She needs to step it up even just to put up a fight against Liindsay. If she plays the way she did against Tatina, she stands absolutely no chance. She hasn't faced anyone of Lindsay's caliber.. well far cry from that.
