¤The CharlDa Wimbledon Experience¤ Reports and pics coming!!

Hey guys!

In this thread I'll post pics and reports of (hopefully) all the matches I saw during the qualifying tourney in Roehampton as well as in the main draw matches of Wimbledon!

I'll start by qualifying tonight, so if you guys have questions, suggestions or demands, you can do it now, I'll probably start working on that in the next few hours

Cheers!
CharlDa

Last time it's what I did, and people asked like 12135425 questions I could have answered while writing it, but instead I hate to constantly update which was totally annoying.

I'll change the title to Reports and pics coming

Qualifying day 01 - The Preview

I was landing in London at 8h00 in the morning. I knew that play started at 11, and I was really excited to go to Roehampton and cheer for Steph especially. But first I had to cross the entire city to go to the East where my friend was living, then come back to the southwest where Roehampton is located. This explains why I didn't see many matches on that day. I was really focused on Marie-Eve and Stephanie. The next two days, I really walked around to see as many players and as many matches as I could.

Qualifying Day 01 - Random Matches

Cravero vs Okamoto

This was was brilliant! I love Jorgelina's game. She would stay far behind the baseline, but she would counter attack so well. She would turn defense to offense really well. Okamoto looked quite comfortable on grass. Her shots are low and flat, typical asian play on grass really. The match had awesome rallies, both girls didn't seem to miss of the entire third set. Jorgelina managed to pull through by taking the lead in points and just going forwards a lot more. It's often the case on grass: the one attacking will be the one winning. I was quite impressed with Cravero's play, I really like her and I was already looking forward to seeing more of her.

Suarez vs Chakhnashvili

Paola was hitting quite well. It was clear around the grounds that she was the one who used to be a former star. She was hitting very flat and hard off both sides, and attacking a lot. She clearly lacks the variety and consistency she used to have. Margalita tried some stuff, but overall Paola was just too good. Margalita's style is quite weird, though I can see how it can be effective.

Klepac vs Martinez Sanchez

Klepac had an awesome game for grass. She totally overpowered Maria Jose who was constantly frustrated, and surely wasn't scared of showing it. Klepac was just taking the lead early in the points and was just hitting corner after corner. She was serving well, and really impressed me. Martinez Sanchez, as I knew, is not a typical clay player like her name sounds like She actually whacks the ball quite hard and flat, but on that day, she was just overplayed and she knew it. Quite entertaining match with hard-hitting rallies.

Cohen-Aloro vs Kuryanovich

Stephanie won the first quite handily, as expected. The second was actually very close, but physically, at the end of the second, Stephanie just seemed to lose it. She started breathing heavily, asked for the trainer, took a lot of time between points. She ended up losing the set 7-6, and I really thought she was out of it. She constantly said: I can't do it anymore, looked at her coach and would just look terrified and so tired. When I saw she ended up winning the third easily, I was quite surprised. Hopefully she got herself together and it was just a mental lapse.

Tulyaganova vs Fedossova

Iroda's serve (ok you naughty lil str8 guys, her chest too) is as big as it ever was. On grass it was quite effective against Youlia. Youlia was hitting well from the back, her shots seem to be quite heavy and hard, but Iroda's serve made it tough for her to break. Iroda's forehand gave her a lot of opportunities to finish points, and she used the one-two punch a lot after first serves.

Szavay vs Erakovic

Agnes can hit so hard. Her backhand especially. Of course, hitting hard on grass is always a plus (Sprem anyone? -and no i'm not offering y'all a glass of man-juice!). Marina can play on grass too. She sliced quite well, threw in some junk, went to net. I was surprised of how bulky she looked. I imagined her to be tiny and sweet but she actually looked square. Agnes really was in a zone of her own in that qualy tournament, and the moment her shots started getting in, nothing anyone could do.

Voracova vs Schultz-McCarthy

Everyone expected Brenda to sail through qualies. But Renata didn't agree! Brenda served well in the first, got one break, and it was enough. She would slice, move to net, and play some typical grass game. In the second and third, Renata got accustomed to it, started returning way better, passing shots went in, and she would try to get the advantage earlier, before Brenda could do it. It ended up in Renata winning the last two.
