Yeah the same was true about the tournament in Brighton years ago.
Queens has had a larger brewer sponsoring it for years and the site is smack bang in west-central in London, very easliy reached by the tube and buses.
Eastbourne is still seen as being a small mediocre retirement town for staid tory-voting senior citizens.
It's at the end of a train line 2 hours outside London..nothing much happens there
Queens has alway enjoyed extensive coverage without, if my memory serves me correctly, competition from other sports on the same days from the bbc who broadcasts it.
Eastbourne has always had megre coverage in comparison. Always having to share with royal ascot, (the horse racing) that the queen and the royal family attend, and the the farcial fashion
parade that goes with it, including indepth analyisis from the extremely critical and judgemental members of fleet street of people's designer hats, which quite frankly a 4 year old in kintergarten could have made..
The best th ing for Eastbourne to do would be to move to a different week form royal ascot or to find another tv host for it's coverage..
