This has been the worst of Venus' losses. Entertaining match though!

Complete match

Enjoy!

Don't want to take anything away from Martina's win, but I remember Venus showing up for this event as rusty as fuck, obviously not having prepared properly. 6-1 6-1 gave her a wake up call I think for the rest of the season.

^^ Agreed. She struggled through the tournament, and had nothing left to offer against Martina

This is my cool signature

I just re-watched this match yesterday. Pam and May Joe really couldn't believe how off Vee's forehand was but still there were some great points by both. Unfortunately everytime Venus looked like she was about to get into the match she would make an error.

But all credit to Martina who did everything well that day including a few out of this world lobs...and her passing shots were just ...Venus won less than 50% of her points at the net I believe.

Timea Aga Masha Bencic Kristyna Keys Dani
Sania Vika Nicole Petko Simona Broady Robi CiCi Mladenovic Garcia JJ Errani Duval

Yep, after that match she won 15 straight matches against top ten players. The streak ended against Seles in Melbourne the following year.

And BTW there is no way I will be watching this match again. It was painful enough live.

Marti had even less time to rest from her 8-6 in the 3rd match against Serena.

MaryJoe lost to Vee earlier in the tourney I believe too!

And I dont want to hear about Vee being rusty. She was playing well to get to the semi's! Martina was just awesome that day . Vee got frustrated.
