Mary Needs A Coach

hi everybody,

i reaaly think that mary needs urgently a coach, if she wants to win more grand slams and be number one she need one coach, because like that she will not do it.

She has an amazing potential in her so she needs to use it.

She might be able to do it on her own, but I think having David around has such a soothing effect on Mary. I knew that's exactly who she needed as soon as they started working together in 2000.

Come back, David!

I agree, all she needs is David, and she will not be able to advance and find another coach until David gives her a real answer...

Please help me! I am a relatively new Mary fan. Who is David and why did he leave, and why won't he return?

Does Mary ever read these messages or leave messages for us?

David is Mary's younger brother. Why is he not coaching Mary at the moment, david has some personal things to figure out and what he wants to do.

David Pierce is Mary's brother, he's 18 months her junior. When Mary won the Family Circle Cup and the French Open in 2000, David was coaching her. She got injured later that year and when she came back in 2001 she had a new coach. Mary and David started working together again last year and Mary won two titles, made it to two Grand Slam finals and also the YEC finals -- which by the way I am still desperately trying to forget. Anyway, a couple of months ago, David decided to take some time off and is as yet undecided as to whether he wants to continue coaching Mary full-time.

We're all rooting for him to come back because clearly, it was an arrangement that really worked for Mary and has systematically led to on-court success.

As for Mary reading the messages on this board, I really don't know, on the one hand it would be nice for her to know she has such a loyal fan base but on the other hand, very occasionally people post utter garbage here which, I for one, would rather she didn't see.

Mark and Miss Tennis Fan,
Thanks for the answer to my question. I will not enjoy watching the final tomorrow. Not without our Mary in it.

I really think she'll play her best tennis and be very, very fit with David by her side.
