Thank you for making a thread for Domi and supporting her.
I was thinking about that towards the end of 2015 but got distracted in the off-season.
Anyway, Domi is a girl with potential. But I won't make any predictions nor have any exact expectations as she's still young and has a lot to develop.
She barely turned 17 this week, and actually defeated Viviani on her birthday. Well, I think the match passed midnight in Costa Rica but she started playing the match on the 7th (her actual birthday).
Watched a bit of her QF and I was impressed. She's very solid off both sides. Her backhand.
and her forehand is good but very inconsistent. Her serve is so, so... But has good placement on both 1st and 2nd from what I saw. She likes to mix it up with drop shots and slices as well. And comes to the net when she needs to.
All of these of course can be improved as I'm talking from the junior point of view. But at this age is all about developing in every area. She gets frustrated quite easily when making dumb errors but seems to regroup fast.
Hopefully 2016 will be a better year for her.
Started with a SF showing at the G1 event in San José. Although as I mentioned earlier she finished her QF late and was programmed for the SF at 2PM.
She lost 6-1 6-4 and had to play doubles after and lost badly. Agh. The schedule was unfair.
Still a good first week of the season.
Don't know her schedule but she's confirmed to play the Fed Cup Zone I in Bolivia next month. It will be on red clay. She made her Fed Cup last year (went 1-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles) to help Peru get promoted.
The expectations are not high for Peru in Zone I but Domi should get some good playing experience against much tougher oponnents in comparison to Zone II.
