Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2014 Season - Volume 17

Yes, I know she had the option to play for Montenegro when they got their status as a country. Cliffy Drysdale alluded to the fact that she was going to play for Montenegro on ESPN2 so many years ago. Bad journalism? or Just needing ish to talk about during her matches?

A little off topic, but I know that Janko Tipsarevic is from a very small region/village in Serbia. I heard he's really invested and helped his home community. I don't think he has any connections to Montenegro, tho.. any of you all know?

JJ back into the top 10 in 2017!!!
It could happen...

It was just bad journalism

Janko is from Belgrade( Novak, Jelena, Ana, Bojana are also from Belgrade).
Tipsy didn't invest lol.
He has no connections with Montenegro

Ugh I don't like that she's not playing singles or doubles the first day. I doubt she'll go that far in doubles, but that's still a lot of matches to cram into six days and Empress is fit but she is also 29, so a bit past her peak there…

My number one: Victoria Azarenka

ATP: Novak Djoković

Crazy Frenchies! Gilles Simon Alizé Cornet

Nah - with age comes wisdom, so she'll find extreme mental toughness in around 5 years.

Most (smaller/mid size) tournaments are happy to give the top seed a WC to doubles with pretty much any partner--its definitely a bigger draw for them than a random doubles team who's single ratings combined are outside top 200.

If Jelena doesn't win the damn trophy here...

I cheer on scrubs.

No. People never learn. I doubt if Jelena is exception.

Though it's not like she's going to win both titles there

It was like last year! She didn't play like the 1st 2 days and had to cram all her matches in like 5 days

Despite not making many winners, she's still an agressive baseliner, and she doesn't only win matches by waiting the opponent's mistake, though she can do that at times also.

I also think is better to play R1 on day 1 or day 2 so you can be fresh for later stage of tournament.I guess JJ wanted time to adapt on surface and high altitude in Bogota. It's very tough to play there.

Weather forecast is very bad for this week. ((

If JJ wins Bogota I think shell climb back up to #7 pushing Kerber to 8 and Pova back to 9.

Forecast shows thunderstorms not stopping until 7 pm so it looks like play would've been pushed back anyways. The rest of the week looks good with sun and maybe a few showers in the middle of the night on tuesday (at like 1-3 am).

Please just no playing 2 singles matches in 1 day! I hate that! That's why she didn't win the Birmingham Slam

JJ is retired from FC (unless she decides she's not retiring before Rio 2016)

Cliffy was talking about how the decision would be hard for JJ, would she play for Serbia or Montenegro. He brought up the fact that her Dad is from Montenegro.
