I didn't watch a point of this match and I am happy about that. I imagine it was a torture to watch. I knew she can't win Wimbledon, but after all players out of her part of the draw I had hopes she might reach her first Wimbledon QF.

When she learns how to volley she'll win a bit more on grass. An absolute FH volley sitter on set point.

Looks like she isn't winning on grass anytime soon

Despite not making many winners, she's still an agressive baseliner, and she doesn't only win matches by waiting the opponent's mistake, though she can do that at times also.

All I can say is......what a fu***g bad day at Wimbledon. Crazy stuff and two of my favs are already gone.....and we are just in the second round, god damn. They can already hand the trophy over to Rena.

Jelena Jankovic, Angelique Kerber, Maria Sharapova, Vika Azarenka

Nope - Caroline Garcia is taking her out tomorrow. Or if she survives that, Pironkova.

Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

didn't watch the match either.
but unfortunately I did predict her demise. That petkovic match told me everything. That WAS a crucial match. It would have defined her new found confidence - but she crashed and lost it all. I honestly think that she'll not get it back. Pity, top players grind at these things. She can't anymore.

Anyway, wish her luck, but she is basically a top 20 player now, and that's where her reality is.
Too many hasty changes, too many coaches & non-coaches, too much experimentation and she's nowhere.
But she had something, for us to care about her at all.
And you never know now and then she might sparkle for a moment.
So I'll still be on the lookout for that.

JJ doesn't give a shit, so neither should we. We all know the story about grass + JJ. She beat Venus there and that's all there is to it (and a few good matches vs. Myskina).

Now this part of the season is where we should have high expectations, JJ's best results have come from this part of the season.

This kind of attitude insults me as a fan. Soooo, the grass doesn't insult Vesna's tennis intelligence. You played like crap, you wasted a set point. Sorry, Jelka. It's not the grass, stop making excuses.

Um, Jelena... you have to adapt... saying you don't like a style of tennis is fine, but saying it insults your intelligence is just plain stupid. It's insulting to us fans by refusing to try and adapt to a surface you don't play well on. It's clear she made it to R4 a few times in years ago based on tennis skill alone, regardless of the surface. She made it because she was playing good tennis, not adapting to grass court tennis.

When your draw opens this far to make your first QF at Wimbledon, and you are going to be regarded as one of the few favorites to make it to the SF stage, you have to, quite frankly, give a damn. If she won't give a damn, I won't. That attitude needs to leave like a classic JJ shank out of the stadium

Her net game, i just have no words for that... I'm just becoming more bitter and bitter after every stupid loss she have, and sometimes i even think that some of us care more than she does, and that's quite sad...

This... I mean, she lost to Dolonc. Had she played anywhere close to her decent level, the surface wouldn't be an issue. She's not good on grass, but she's not a complete scrub there.

The only positive is that JJ is leaving Wimbledon without some kind of injury.

Also on another note, JJ and Mirjana play their first round of doubles tomorrow. The are second on court #9 (no stream) and play after a men's doubles that starts at 11:30 am (so I bet JJ/Mirjana won't play until about 5 pm )

Yes, I expected her to learn from her childish attitudes but she doesn't want to.

Maaaan, I need WIMBLEDON to be over... after that Jelena will have one more chance in my heart I just can't right now
