Come to think of it, I don't understand Martha at all - what is her motivation now that no one has taken out Sarin? The best she can hope for is just losing to Serena with a respectable score instead of the usual public humiliation. Whereas another SF would mean so much to Baby Jeca and her fans! She's not a good person, this Martha, no.

If you lose Jelena, lose quickly. Hoping for a tornado and Maria beating herself.

Well, I guess she's thinking anything could happen. After all Rena did lose to Stosur in a USO final.

Jelena has a chance to win. She just has to stay focus and play well and count that Maria will selfdestruct herself. Maria hasn't played anything special and I'm not sure if she's able to play better + there is still Serena in draw and this fact won't help Maria + Jelena can play volleys. She should use it.

No she didn't. There was no USO that year, lalala. And Maria should really be more realistic and lose all hope and give Jeca a W/O.

Can't wait for all the serve-volley winners!
The problem is that Jelena doesn't seem capable of waiting for Martha to self-destruct as Radwanska or Kirilenko or numerous other players are. She simply doesn't believe she stands an ounce of chance of beating her so it doesn't even matter how Martha plays. She can hit 55 DFs and 105 UEs and Jelena would still find a way to lose, that's how their match up works. Plus Martha always looks extremely motivated to crush JJ. I wonder what Jelena did at Nick. B's camp to earn her eternal wrath?

Jelena explains in her own words:

“We always wanted to be better than one another,” Jankovic said, “that’s why we are great competitors now that we have got older. We want to fight, play the matches, we love the challenges. I didn’t want to practise, I wanted to compete and go play matches on the backcourts. At Bollettieri’s there are 150 courts and we just played and played (to get) better… We were fighting, competing against each other, doing anything to win. We were girls at a young age that had rivalries. It should be like that on court but when you leave the court you should be able to go out and have normal life.”

Didn't Jelena want to be the biggest diva when she was in Bollettieri's academy?

And didn't she come there when Maria was already the biggest young star in Florida/USA?

Jelena needs to serve like she's been doing it and she might be in a winning position

I'm faithful about this match- it's like a strange feeling...

i know jeca has nothing to lose and that she the clear underdog.........but i cant help but feel what an opportunity this is. She already has gained so much confidence but this win would put her right where she needs to be, at the top! I really hope jeca can pull this off, it would be such a great win!

that being said, i have learned a VERY hard way not to expect anything with JJ

Maria is one determined and focused bitch that doesn't give up and will win against Sarin or whoever at some point, no matter how many times she lost before. That's what I like about her. Unlike our lady fragile flower who loses focus when she hears couple of pigeons talking 5 courts away from hers and has a determination of an inebriated chicken.

I do hope for a small miracle today. And some huge drama. Idemo

That's true. But let's remember that Jelena never gave up trying to beat Henin even after so many epic failures. she never went on the court with her to get slaughtered yet again and get it over with. OTOH, when she plays Martha, it (almost) always looks as if she doesn't think it's even worth a try and wants to get out of there as soon as possible. For all Baby Jeca flaws, she's been a a bold competitor when faced with most of her usual slayers, but not with Sharapova.

Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

yeah, there's probably "unknown for public" history between them while at academy. we all know what that is: jj outshined maria both on court and in the parties, so now she's vulturing over her

still, hope for really, really good serving today (can you believe, we HOPE for an EXCELLENT serve!!!!) so maria can't smack stunning return winners. plus the usual good movement, smart placement and a couple of out-of-nowhere drop shots (can you believe, jj can ACTUALLY play drop- shot?!?!)and the victory is just behind the corner

Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

4 hours guys. just 4 hours and the big showdown is coming. I just hope for a good match not the Miami type of match. JJ finally deserves a win against Maria I remember the Cincy shit fest. so close :'((((((

My wish is that Maria doesn't return so well. If she is returning well from the begging it will be hard for JJ to get into the match and her insecurity will kill her.

I just want it to be a good match. I'm happy with any result cause this is GS QF. we didn't have that in a long time.
