I have serious doubts about her footwork. She usually can't hit clean winner/shot because (it's my opinion) she is either too early or too late and she just misses the balls. Of course she can hit the ball back but in not the way she should/can.

And now I'm serious about this.
I know! As a matter of fact, I was quite positive her ability to hit deep, precise shots had gone forever. I wasn't sure if it was due to her body not being able to handle it, or to her lack of interest. But it seems she's really trying again, and she's actually able to play a consistent set when she hits the ball with purpose and it works pretty well. I have yet to see her play an entire match without at least a patch of puffballing. I still don't know whether it's physical or just laziness and mental picnics.
Whatever it is, I doubt she'll ever be able to overcome it due to her age and personality and everything, but I was hoping we would at least see a couple of more good matches and wins from her, not this embarrassing combo of puffballing and choking to mugs.

Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

I think it's a confidence thing, i mean it's not like she didn't play this type of matches when she was in much better shape(i mean mentally), but she somehow always ended on top in those matches, like against paszek AO2008, Arvidsson Miami,US open 2008 and she reached the finals in both tournaments etc... She always played like that but we are just not used on seeing her lose (even after all these years)...
even yesterday, halep was obviously dying on the court while jelena looked bored to death and annoyed by something during the last couple of games...

I'd be happy with JJ just winning the singles championship at RG. Doubles and singles win might be too much to ask.

Well hey at least Jelena got all her choking out of her system before Roland Garros, right?

This is seriously the only match in a while that I've seen her lose in a late stage of a tournament in a VERY long time. I watched some highlights and she was hitting the ball well in my opinion. Of course not on every shot (ESP that smash at 5-6 final set ) but it is promising for a nice showing at RG.

I'm over this loss because she win 0 matches on clay in main draw WTA tournaments before RG last year, and this year she has 14 wins and a title, so I can only be happy

You have no agency in this match. You might start to wonder if you have free will. Perhaps solipsism is true after all - is it Jankovic's world and you're simply allowed to live exist in it? It's basically existential waterboarding.

Except for Rena, JJ's successors are all so random

Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

JJ is just not good against playing styles of Scheepers/Halep/Radwanska/Wozniacki

They can hang in the rallies and when opponent doesn't hit UE JJ gets very confused.

Rome, Charleston and Stuttgart aren't real clay either. Just Bogota. (And maybe RG, but only if she wins)

I really wanted to do more. Such as aces and double faults and first serve % etc etc etc but I couldn't find that anywhere and my iPhone tennis app only shows scores and nothing else. Oh well.

I'll also be doing one for her doubles on clay too. She's had a few partners thus far on clay, so it's be nice to see how she did with different partners :]
