Pick Thread Banner made by Louisa

Hello, everyone.
Welcome to The JJ Forum Pick Thread. For each tournament JJ enters, we pick how far she will progress and we pick the winner and set scoreline for each match she plays. We always pick for semifinals and final, no matter if Jelena gets that far.
Enjoy your stay and have fun, but have in mind that this is a prestigious competition.
So, read the NEW RULES carefully before you get too excited.
Trash-talk, bitchin' & drama are always welcome.

Master & Commander of The Pick Thread,
Alex

THE 2011 SEASON RULES

Any JJ fan/supporter (reetard included) can play this game and join in at any time of the year, but....

1. Tournament commitment
Committing to a tournament means picking how far will JJ progress at the next tournament she plays. Progress Pick is opened as soon as the draw becomes available. Usually we pick for her 1st match at the same time.

Consistency is heavily rewarded in The Pick Thread, so try to commit to as many tournaments as you can. Grand Slam (GS) and Premium Mandatory (PM) tournaments are mandatory for ALL pickers and you will be penalized with negative points for each Pick missed at those tournaments. If you forget about Progress Pick at GS and PM tourneys you will receive a PP Penalty (-3 points); in that case you will not be further penalized for missing round picks at that tournament - RP Penalty (-1 point).

2. Points distribution & Penalties
Pickers earn points for correctly guessing how far will JJ progress (Progress Pick) and for correctly guessing the winner and set scoreline of each individual match (Round Pick). The amount of points depends on the level of tournament. Pickers get negative points (Penalty) for missing Progress Pick or Round Pick(s) at GS and PM level tournaments. There are no penalties at other level tournaments.

Tournaments & Points

a. Grand Slam & Premier Mandatory
Progress Pick:
+10 for a correct Progress Pick
-3 PP Penalty for missing the Progress Pick (no additional penalties for each round pick missed)
Round Pick:
+0 if your pick loses
+3 for correctly picking the winner of a round match
+3 for correctly picking winning scoreline (sets)
-1 RP Penalty if you miss the Round (Match) Pick

b. Premier 5 Series
There are no penalties for missing PP and/or RP
Progress Pick:
+7 for a correct Progress Pick
Round Pick:
+0 if your pick loses
+2 for correctly picking the winner of a round match
+2 for correctly picking winning scoreline (sets)

c. Premier Series
There are no penalties for missing PP and/or RP
Progress Pick:
+5 for a correct Progress Pick
Round Pick:
+0 if your pick loses
+2 for correctly picking the winner of a round match
+2 for correctly picking winning scoreline (sets)

d. International Series
There are no penalties for missing PP and/or RP
Progress Pick:
+3 for a correct Progress Pick
Round Pick:
+0 if your pick loses
+1 for correctly picking the winner of a round match
+1 for correctly picking winning scoreline (sets)

e. Season Ending Championships
The top 12 pickers after regular season will qualify for the SEC. It's a prestigious bonus tournament to determine SE Number One, so the pickers can only gain points (there are no penalties at this tournament). Participants pick for ALL the matches in their group.

Progress Pick (Only if JJ qualifies):
+3 for correctly guessing the number of JJ's RR wins (0/1/2/3)
+2 for correctly guessing JJ's progress (RR/SF/F/Title)
Round Pick:
+2 for correctly picking the winner of a match
+2 for correctly picking winning scoreline (sets)

3. Pick Closing Time, Reminders & Tables
The picks are closed on the day of JJ's match. The exact closing time depends on the scheduled start of JJ's match (or semifinal/final match). I will often post Reminders for each pick to help you out. I might not always have the time or resources to "officially" open the pick or post reminders, so you should always have these general rules in mind. Any pick posted after the closing time will not be counted.
I will regularly (i.e. when I have the time) post Result, Tournament Summary and Leaderboard Tables.

THANK YOU & GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Re: The JJ Forum Pick Thread (Vol 3+, RULES in Post #1!)

Pick Thread History

The game was originally started by our honorary Master & Commander - Rozzie (RFS), for the 2007 Madrid Season Ending Championships. The tournament had around 10 participants and the winner was JustDoIt. Since then the game is constantly growing and more than 50 fans played it over the last two years.

This is more than just a game. It's competition - yes, but more than anything this thread serves to gather around JJ fans, no matter how much they are posting around the board. It's fun, especially when JJ is winning, but that's not always the case...

Hall of fame and the Honarary shouts are MUCH appreciated babe... rules look complex and real life means I may well struggle to be in the forum, but well done babe  :worship:

Re: The JJ Forum Pick Thread (Vol 3+, RULES in Post #1!)

So, the draw will become available sometimes late at night Europe time. As soon as it's online you can start picking for Sydney Progress & R1!

My internet is dying all the time so just keep it running for yourselves if I'm not here. You know the drill! Everyone can play. Have in mind that there are negative points - read the rules in post 1.

The 2010 Pick season has officially begun.

Nothing changes for the pickers except that they can get negative points for missing a pick. So, exact scoreline isn't required, but if people want to post them for fun I'll have them in mind for a special Psychic Award.
