It seems JJ will star in a (long) documentary about her life on tour. They were shooting it in Madrid last year and Berlin this year. It also mentions Sevilla - so I guess it's when she had that tennis match in a football stadium. The movie is called "Jelena's world" and it will be finished by September. It's a Serbian-German co-production.

Quote:
"The presence of camera never affected what was happening in Jelena's life. That's the best thing about this project cos we were trying to be like a shadow that follows her around and records typical moments in her professional life. We subtly peeked into life of a top tennis player, but we will also show some segments public doesn't know about", said Tanja Bozovic.

Anna Chakvetadze and Elena Dementieva will also show up in the movie, as well as Justine Henin just a week before her official retirement, Jelena's coach Ricardo Sanchez...

The movie will reveal to the public all the activities of a professional tennis player at big tournaments, but also some things that we don't hear often about - training sessions, different presentations, shootings, players' interaction, receptions, and also some more intimate details like joy or tears after a tennis match, struggle with injuries and their consequences.

"The way we were shooting this movie is really unconventional. Jelena is a very positive and intelligent person with a great sense of humour. She is patient and professional. The movie shows the greatness of her spirit. The top athletes are fully devoted to their sport and they really love it. That's one of the aspects we wanted to show in this movie."

"No, Jelena, you don't need to cry when you wake up!"
"But, I really want to, I'm emotional and I'm a real actress..."
"No, Jelena...you're just waking up..."
"I cry all the time, you'll see it will be great..."

I think they're exactly the same. If she gets to No. 1, it will always, always say in her WTA profile that her highest ranking was No. 1, and the date she achieved it. Likewise, if she wins a Grand Slam, it will always, always say that she won that tournament. Both of them will always be under your name, and the likelihood of retaining either indefinitely is nil.

Yeah 'spose... I reckon I came at it from an athletics point of view where once the record has gone, there might be a mention of it somewhere but to be honest all anyone cares about are the medals at the Major champs...

Let's face it.. on her current form she'd be lucky to hold on to #1 for 5 minutes before it runs away from her and she hyperextends her knee trying to get after it.

Feeling nervous about her match now... I just hope to god she really doesn't damage herself to rule her out of the Olympics, the rest of the year and/or her entire career tonight.

Pick Strategy is ALL: JJ is merely the weapon of choice...

JM: [pause, followed by a guilty look] Ah yeah. That's possible.

Some people have to learn their lessons the hard way.

Re: Jelena Jankovic News and Articles Thread, vol 2

Matt Cronin did an interview with Jelena on Tennis Live Radio in the 2d part of the broadcast last night. It's about 26 minutes in.

A lot of it is not new because the quotes have been used in articles, but I'm amused because he sounds about as interested in her litany of "but... but... but" as I would.

I think Chris Fowler is the only one who knows how to deal with JJ...Matt, god bless him, was all "really?...aha...aha...aha...aha....riiiight" .
You could feel JJ would like to talk about anything that's on her mind...I bet that at that "heels moment" Chris would crack a joke or something and Matt just kept asking these "serious" questions. JJ is not a serious type, and she did manage to make him laugh at one point when she said that things sometimes happen for a reason and sometimes without any reason.

Matt wants serious answers to serious questions, like, hey, what up with that RG semi? And then gets exasperated and when she gives him complete non-answers.

Whereas Chris wants to adopt her and take her home for Thanksgiving dinner, and maybe make sure she gets some good R&R by sending her out for a spa day with his wife.

Good interview. She loves talking about her injuries. If she really has suffered that much this year just wait until next year when she has a coach and no injuries.

I think JJ likes Chris better though...Like after a day of tennis I guess tennis is not her favourite topic for conversation.

Something always goes wrong. That's why we have Jankobitches Excuse Thread.
But we can always hope for the best, I guess.

JJ likes Chris better because when she goes into an interview with Chris and says she's cold, he finds her a jacket to wear. If she walked into an interview with Matt Cronin and said she was cold, he'd be like, "Uh huh."

A coach and no injuries? Chasing pipe dreams, that's all that is.
