Re: * Magdalena Rybarikova Thread *
A win in the semifinals tomorrow , will be like presenting herself with a gift , as third seed Magdelena Rybarikova of Slovakia will be celebrating her 20th Birthday .The media team spoke to her on the eve of her birthday and her first ever career semifinal tomorrow.
Q. How was today's match , it was relatively easy win for you?
Ans: It is really unbelievable, that the match was so easy for me today and in straight sets, I'm also not feeling too well and have stomach problems , so I'm relieved that I did not have to go through a difficult match.
Q. So looking at tomorrow's match against Sorana Cirstea what are your thoughts?
Ans: I'm sure that if I have to reach my first ever finals , I have to play aggressive tennis , I'm not feeling too well and have lost around
5 kgs and my opponent is also a good player . I have to conquer my sickness and opponent and I'm confident I can do both.
Q. So how has this year been to you so far ?
Ans: Probably this has been the best year of my career so far. I started the year at 238 in rankings and my goal was to be top 100 player, but now I'm 64 on the rankings. I qualified for all the grand slams events this year and also reached the third round at the US Open where I lost to Patty Schneider in the third round. Now I have reached
my first semifinals at the WTA tour event.
Q.This year you qualified for all the grand slams, but next year is
going to be easier as you may be in the main draw at the major events?
Ans: Yes, it's going to be exciting, I have graduated from 25,000 / 50,000/ and 1,00,000 events this year and then qualifying for the Grand Slam events . I like to play at bigger events, specially the grand slams as the atmosphere is so different, I like to play on
grass and it will be enjoyable experience
Q . How is it playing in Slovakia?
Ans : The conditions are very good , we have good history of tennis in our country. The national tennis centre now has an indoor hard court where we practice, we have good systems for physical conditioning and a lot of good players are coming out of our country
