Re: Paula Kania thread

Paula lost minimally to Bychkova. 6:3 4:6 5:7
From what I saw, from the 2nd set, Bychkova started to serve like a servebot, Paula had very little opportunity to even win a point In rallies, she was actually better, small details and Bychkova's experience decided.

Why the hate? She's lost in 3 tight sets not in 2 under an hour.

Pretty much the truth.

Re: Paula Kania thread

This was a different surface and now she almost won too. But as I said, I watched the match, and Bychkova won only due to her serve which was unreturnable for Kania on this fast indoor carpet (watch serve statistics).
Anyway, if Marta won 50k you woul be all in heaven. Double standards, TF

She pretty much told that the beginning of the year was bad, and that she split with coach, now she has another one. And that she is herself her own sponsor. She told also she's excited about Australian Open. She wants to show what she can do and she states that she's able to win a few rounds in MD. That it's not anything extraordinary to do it. She says she already won matches against players who had good Grand Slam showings (Pfizenmaier, Rus etc.). She also says that she travels on the tournaments without coach as she cannot afford but says it may change soon as she shares a coach with another player and it could be cheaper.

Re: Paula Kania thread

Wow she's really self-confident. I hope she's right.

She travels with Solovyeva so probably Kania was talking about her trainer Hubert Choudury or father Alexander Solovyev

Yes, exactly. Her coach is now Hubert Choudury. former e.g. Schnyder, Safina, Beygelzimer coach.

She posted some pictures from Sydney on FB.

Re: Paula Kania thread

Paula already started her season at WTA Auckland qualifying.
First match against Maria Sanchez, 6:4 4:6 4:2, and rain delay.
The match shall be finished tomorrow. If Paula manages to win, her probable opponent in second round should be Grace Min, who's now up 6:2 4:1 in her first match (also stopped by the rain).

Re: Paula Kania thread

Paula lost both singles and doubles in Auckland by such a narrow margin
Best luck in Melbourne!
