Stefania Rogozińska-Dzik

Another promising player, still 14 (15 this year), 229 in ITF junior rankings and top20 in her age category.

She won one G5 last year, G4 title and final this year.
This week she competes in G1 in Morocco as 14 seed!
BYE in 1st round, in 2nd round qualifier Timea Pavlicic from Spain.
Let's cheer!

Re: Stefania Rogozińska-Dzik

Well, I don't know how she plays but she has made good trips over the last few months at least Barbados, Nicaragua, Trinidad & Tobago, Morocco... Hopefully her ranking is not too inflated by these little (and a bit random) events, though she did win all these matches and has to get credit for that.

We will see

Stefania made 2R of 10k in Warsaw. Lost to TOP500 Sabrina Santamaria. Not bad for such a young player.

Re: Stefania Rogozińska-Dzik

Day 5: SFs

Poland 2 - 1 Russia

Maja lost to Anastasia Potapova, 6-3 6-7(5) 1-6
Iga d. Olesya Pervushina, 3 & 3
Maja & Iga d. Pervushina/Potapova, 1 & 3

Maja started well, unlike her opponent: her crafty scrambling unsettled Nastya at the start, draining a lot of UEs. She lead 6-3 *3-1, and also was 4-1* up in the TB. I had stream problems after the first set so I couldn't really see what happened, by I assume Nastya progressively got used to Maja's unusual gamestyle, managed to cut on the UEs, and reversing the momentum gave her a lot of strenght to perform her rather aggressive game in the 3rd.

Iga was mighty impressive, so solid throughout both her matches! She never let Olesya breathe, she was as aggressive as her but could keep the ball into the court much longer and thus she was winning all the rallies, generating so much frustration that Olesya's rather unstable game completely folded.

In doubles they completely exposed the Russians (I, as a big fan of the Russian pair, was quite embarrassed even ), there was no compettition, they were toying with them. Iga was as good as in singles, and Maja totally played her part as well, very solid at the net.

Totally deserved win, really. They'll place USA in the final, should be very competitive!

Day 6: FINAL

Poland 2 - 1 USA

Maja lost to Claire Liu, 3 & 4
Iga d. Amanda Anisimova, 4 & 2
Maja & Iga d. Liu/McNally, 4 & 0

Polska They thoroughly deserve to win the whole thing!

Maja & Iga totally slew again in doubles, they were on every ball and just completely outplayed the Americans who were seeming more and more clueless towards the end of the match... Maja's net play at *5-4 30-0 just was , and so was her volley to convert SP; and Iga kept piercing the American defense time after time and she remained so solid. I think that the doubles level they've displayed these last 2 days is WTA level already.

Congrats to them, beating Russia and the USA consecutively is mighty impressive, and Iga's level of play throughout the week has been pretty astonishing!
