This draw could be a great opportunity for her to have some big results but Lucie will need to play how she has been playing this whole clay season.
Yeah I agree. I think if she got through the first 2 rounds she could really do some damage, just like she did in Rome and Madrid. But those first 2 rounds look quite tricky.

Re: Lucie at Roland Garros 2010

I wouldnt worry too much about Dokic. Shes been only playing Challengers and Lucie's results have been subpar the past month. Although I like both I think Lucie will come through on this one.

LUCIE SAFAROVA!!

Madison Brengle!!
Tsvetana Pironkova, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Lauren Davis, Petra Kvitova, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Timea Bacsinszky, Madison Keys, Kaia Kanepi, Klara Zakopalova, Agnieszka Radwanska

Elena Dementieva - Always my number 1 2012 FITD Olympic Gold Medal Champion!

Re: Lucie at Roland Garros 2010

I'm not quite past the point of saying I never know what to expect from Lucie at majors.

A lot depends on how injured she was in that semifinal. If she's rested and not ailing I expect her to win some matches.

The draw is not bad. As Edinboro said, Dokic has been struggling, and she's not a clay GoAT.

From what little I've seen of Hercog, Lucie has tools to beat her. Hercog has a tendency to push or loop her return of serve, which Lucie should like.

I actually wonder about Doi, who plays Hercog in the first round. She's probably too young at this point to trouble Lucie if Lucie takes command from the start, but her game looks crafty.

Re: Lucie at Roland Garros 2010

I've never actually seen Hercog play, but she has had some good results on clay this year so she must be in some kind of form. I really don't know what to expect with Dokic. She could play amazingly well, or shocking badly. I doubt there would be anything in between. I do think that even if Dokic played really well, she would have trouble beating a confident, in form Lucie. I think Lucie's serve is really gonna trouble her, the way it swings away to the backhand, because Dokic does not move well to that side.

Re: Lucie at Roland Garros 2010

Lucie is playing doubles with slumping hopeless doubles player Wozniak again They drew Arvidsson and Kerber in the first round. When I saw them play doubles, Wozniak was hopeless! She couldn't hit a volley anywhere besides under the net, seriously. She was not good, but maybe she is better now

Lucie vs Dokic first on court 6 tomorrow. Not sure if it is streamed. I think last year it was, but there doesn't seem to be one for this year.

Re: Lucie at Roland Garros 2010

If Lucie can win her first two matches and get some rhythm going I think this will be a very exciting French open for us...

I think there will be a feed, David.

Re: Lucie at Roland Garros 2010

Enjoy the match Laura. Cheer for Lucie for us.

I don't think I'm going to be awake for Lucie's match. It starts at 2am my time. The Tennis Channel seems to be archiving matches though.

Oki that would be funny
Well for tomas' match, i hope it will be longer than lucie's one as it is in 3 sets. Or maybe i will watch first set of lucie and then moving to tomas, depends
What would you do in my case ?

I think you should root on Lucie and if she has everything under control and is up a set and a break in the second you can move on to Thomas.

I definitely think you should start with Lucie. Then you can see how things are going...if she is going fast, you can watch her whole match and leave, and probably still see a fair bit of Tomas...but if she is going slow you can swap courts for a while and come back, just to make sure you see both.

Re: Lucie at Roland Garros 2010

I'm usually pessimistic but looking at Lucie's draw, she definitely has a chance to do well here, no Henin, Serena or Jankovic her side of the draw, only hot mess Kuznetsova.
There's no reason why she couldn't make the QF's here but one step at a time as always with Lucie
I can't imagine Dokic presenting too much of a threat with Lucie's form, unless Lucie gets first-round-itus nerves I will have to wake up early for it if she's first on.

Now I've finally found,
All my friends are in the clouds
