Yeah Lucie was just hitting up the middle against Sania and I didn't really like it in her on-court interview after the mixed doubles how she said "I hope I play better in my next singles match." It sounds a bit like she hopes she gets lucky rather than she will play better.
Lucie played well.
Slow start dropping her serve in the 1st game but she hung in there througout the set & didn't go away.
I really liked Lucie's attitude to keep fighting. Coming back from a break down in both 2nd and 3rd sets
By the end of the match Lucie was playing really well hopefully she can keep it up with all her Gold Coast points off Lucie's ranking needs a good week from her in Hobart.
Tomas Berdych was watching the whole match. Didn't leave till it ended even though he had to play straight after
First time Lucie beat Medina. Medina won 6-4 6-4 in Palermo last year.
saw the match from 4-6 3-4 down, so i guess i only got to see the best of it. lucie made some real bad errors, but that's her game. some of the forehands later on were great. i think her serve was more consistent than usual, yes, but she wasn't winning as many free points with it. her volleys were superb, too. it'd be nice to see her employ a serve and volley tactic against some of these girls who she knows won't be wacking return winners. obviously against mirza, this isn't a smart thing to do, but i would have liked to see her at net a bit more vs. amg. overall, a real good performance with some breathtaking winners. hopefully, lucie hangs on to that form for a while and wins some matches at hobart and ao.
