Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread

Yeah, Im surprised she didnt enter Quebec. She listed it as one of her favourite tournaments on her website

But she simply adores Brisbane, no way she misses that

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread

Lucie did an interview in a Czech sports magazine

Quote:
1. At which hotel are u staying? I dont stay at a hotel, I sleep by a friend at Manhattan right next to Central Park so I can immediately run out
2. Favourite restaurant in New York? Tao is great asian cuisine. Or Pazza Notte, which is such a nice Italian restaurant
3. Favourite shop? I have two - Abercrombie and Vicotira´s Secret. But I dont go shopping to Fifth (Avenue) not much frequently, this year I havent been there yet.
4. Have u ever been to a musical on Broadwayi? Every year we try to go. I love local musicals, we ever go with whole family. Last time we went to see "Hair". When the performance ended, actors went into the public and they took them onto the stage. We went there and sung with the actors "Let the sunshine in"
5. What is best about New York? I couldn´t live here, but to come for two weeks is really nice. The city in any night hour lives in an unbeliavable way. And how many cultures and people meet out there , they are able to live calmly together. It is very interesting city

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread

Tokyo draw is out...Lucie is 16 seed, R1 vs Pironkova, R2 Hsieh or Zakopalova, R3 Sharapova.

She should make R3, but who knows really. Both Pironkova and Zakopalova are challenges particularly when they are in form, but I think the court suits Lucie's game more than theirs. We'll see.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread

Well,we will see. Hsieh is way bigger threat than Zakopalova IMO. She just reached final in Guangzhou and I can totally see Lucie having troubles with her R1 match seems easy.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread

Pironkova also throws in weird spins and plays which could irritate Lucie. The thing about Hsieh is that her serve isn't good so returning is less of a problem...and she has 0 footwork so if Lucie gives her FH heavy rotations Hsieh wouldn't like it. She'll be tired too, so in that sense I expect her to lose to Klara but who knows really. I'll be disappointed if Lucie loses before R3.

Doubles draw is tough, with Pavs again and got top seeds Shvedova/King round 1.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread

Anything less than the third round would be disappointing... I am really hoping that Lucie can finish the year strong and end the year in the top 20.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread

I think she will, shes got about 350 or so points on 20 and she has only 330 to defend in 4 tournaments...but her 17th best tournament this year is 120 points so that will replace the 130 that comes off from Linz...so she really only has the 200 from Moscow to defend. Unless people below her have great weeks I think she'll finish top 20. But obviously it'd be nice to do so by winning
