Second Round Main Draw, Deauville, France
----------------------------------------------------------------

16y.o. Tzveti Pironkova lost today to world's #109 Marta Marrero of Spain.
She surely played one of her best matches in career, but had no luck in the final games in the match
However she'll move to #327-#328 in the rankings in two weeks.
Here are the stats of the match:

MARRERO -->
Aces: 0
Double Faults: 4
First service: 58%
Break pts won: 9/17
Total pts won: 119/228

PIRONKOVA -->
Aces: 0
Double Faults: 1
First service: 75%
Break pts won: 8/13
Total pts won: 109/228

Match duration: 3h 00min

Pironkova has commitments for 2 more tournaments this year, but most likely she'll play only the one!

^Don't be so sure ;)

She has a good chance to win because Vinci has not won a match all year long, but don't forget she's still top 15 :p

Haide Tsveti! :bounce:

So happy about this result. Although Vinci is in a bad form now, I still feel happy Tsveti got her 1st victory against her. Next round she will face Beck. Last year in Lux Open, she 2-6 2-6 lost to Beck.

Still hope she can play her best tennis! Good luck to her! Come on!!!

It's a habit of her to win matches now

We must be active if we don't want this place to be closed

So pityful result. Tsveti 7-6(5) 2-6 2-6 Annika.
In tiebreak, Tsveti 3-5 to Annika, but come back 7-5.
It was a ough match. And after the second set, I think maybe Tsveti called injury time out.
Anyway, Good luck in Dubai. Come on, Tsveti!

Do not worry! :wavey:Everything is under control!
Tsveti is not ready for so many games and tired.
I said that Beck would be very tough opponent.
Unfortunately Anika is a black cat for Pironkova.
3 nice wins! :bounce:Let us not become perfectionist.
Let's wish 3 wins to Tsveti in Dubai!

Too bad :(

Of course, she gave us such a big surprise in Sydney.
But last year before Birmingham, she just got one victory in clay season.
So there is no pressure for her this year.
Hope she can continue playing her good state and get the seed position in Wimbledon! Come on!

Gl! ;)

Tough match but nice win.
Tsveti led 5-0 in the final set, but her total points are only 2 more points than Vitalia Diatchenko (111-109).It's not a easy match.
Next round she will face Bouchard, good luck.
Hope she can play her best tennis.

I want to congratulate Tsveti for the effort to play Doha and Dubai. She had injury and obviously she hadn't healed it completely and it has affected her serve severely. I watched the match against Vinci and she had troubles there with the hip. The 1-st round in Dubai shows she isn't 100% and I wish her rest and healthy body. My big expectations are on the grass season and the fast hard courts in the second half of the season. She has real chance to enter top 20 as she has nothing to defend. :)

#712 ·
Yes. Before Indianwells, hope she can recover more these days.
I also look forward to this year's grass season.
Her serve was actually influenced in Doha and Dubai.
Serve should be her weapon. Hope she can come to the court healthily.
