I checked the Archives and the highest rank I could find was #23 by polishprodigy. I might be mistaken so correct me if I'm wrong!

Speaking about setting impressions on their debut tournaments, KoOlMaNsTeVeN did just that in Antwerp 2002, in only his 2nd tournament, the punky Canadian claimed the title with an amazing 31 point lead of 2nd placed saki, whilst this was an astounding result, Canadaís 2nd highest ranked player has not won a title since. He attributes this to a lack of focus in his game. In fact the Canadian has undergone several username changes, but all seems to be settled now.

This year in Paris, KoOlMaNsTeVeN finished a classy 3rd which would elevate his race rank into the top 50. He is hoping to return to the top 20, a destination suited for this fine and talented athlete. We caught up with Steven in a Local Pub in Doha.

Q. How did you get involved in PAW?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: Well I started it when it first came out. I loved the idea of picking winners for matches since it is something i was thinking about before.

Q. You won Antwerp in 2002, but have not won a title since, however you finished 3rd in Paris OGF recently, do you think you are returning to form and maybe coming an elite top 20 player again?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: If I play more I think I can. The main key for me is to see past matches etc.. I really need in the upcoming weeks to focus on the game. Plus I hope I can come back to the top 20.

Q. Are you friends with the Canadians, there is a whole group of them doing well, are you good friends with them?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: Iím good friends with Paul (Polishprodigy). The others are quite new so I havenít been able to get to know them.

Q. What surface do you adapt to the most?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: Hmm. I would have to say hard. Because I can concentrate on my game more in the summer.

Q. You play a variety of games on the board, what makes PAW different?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: As i said BEFORE its head to head match-ups and ALSO itís based on actual WTA Matches which is very special.

Q. Do you have any role models, you look up to, on tour?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: which tour?

Q. The Paw Tour, sir.

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: Nope. Im really my own individual and I donít look around at anyone else to look up to.

Q. Tell us five words to describe yourself?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: punkish, nice, demanding, selfish, sweet Ö a mix of things

Q. How long do you see yourself playing PAW, and how do you think the game is going?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: I see myself playing for a very long time. I really do think that PAW needs to promote itself more and MAYBE make it a bit more interesting.

Q. What do you mean by ďmore interesting,Ē do you have any ideas?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: Hmm.. I think the game should inform the players more about head to heads etc..

Q. But donít you think thatís the playerís responsibility to do that?

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: i guess so

Q. KoOlMaNsTeVeN:, we appreciate your time, thank you.

KoOlMaNsTeVeN: Thanks soo much!
Excellent Interview!!

Nathan27 is exactly what you would call one of PAWís youngest hot prospects. The explosive Canadian has certainly made enough steady progress in the second half of 2003 and in the first few months of 2004 to turn lots of heads. Nathan plays with a spontaneous game style relying on natural instinct, fire power and luck to get him through tournaments, and the method has been paying off, when he finished 2nd at Sydney this year, eclipsing his previous best finish Ė a 4th in Filderstadt on debut.

These top 5 finishes have provided a platform for Nathan27 in 2004, who prefers not to look at the future and concentrate on his performance week by week. We caught up with Nathan27 in a souvenir stop at Dubai.

Q. Good evening today we are interviewing one the players on the rise, Nathan27.

Nathan27: Hi!

Q. Nathan, you began PAW last year, what enticed you to play?

Nathan27: I really liked the idea of betting on matches and I really like the rankings system!

Q. Do you think PAW deals with a lot of concepts it is essentially a game in which you have to yield the most points, do you think strategy is also involved?

Nathan27: There are many concepts involved such as risk-taking and being somewhat knowledgeable of the wta tour such as how players are doing and their favourite surfaces. That's one of the reasons why I like PAW so much, because there's a lot of skill involved and not just luck.

Q. You were 2nd at Sydney this year, what were you feelings after achieving such a result?

Nathan27: I was thrilled and surprised. It was my best finish in my short PAW career. Although I was most happiest with my 4th place finish at Filderstadt because I think it was one of my first tournaments, maybe my first and I wasn't quite aware of all the tactics involved in the game.

Q. You are one the newcomers of the tour now, do you have any rivals?

Nathan27: Not really. Well, there are a few Canadian newcomers that are about in the same ranking position as I am but I wouldn't consider them rivals.

Q. Who is your best friend on tour, I know you are very close to all Canadian players?

Nathan27: Actually we have a thread going now as you know, and I'm just getting to know a lot of them a little bit more. They're all great!

Q. How long do you see yourself playing PAW? And what goals do you have this year?

Nathan27: I'm not sure. I may have to take a break this summer unfortunately because I'm going to be really busy working. This game is really addictive though. I'm actually really busy now and I tell myself I'll take a break but it only takes a few minutes to post my picks so I keep playing. As long as I love playing this game I'll continue to participate!

Q. Yes this addiction seems to be catching everyone, why is this?

Nathan27: I'm not sure exactly. The wta tour is so dynamic and interesting and the personalities and rivalries add so much to the sport. I think people want to be more involved in the tour and this gives them an opportunity to do so. And as for my goals, I'd like to win a tournament or two and get into the top 30.

Q. Can you remember what was the smartest PAW pick that you have ever made in a tournament?

Nathan27: If I remember correctly, it was in Filderstadt when I chose Mary Pierce over Jennifer Capriati. I chose my personal favourite even though I didn't think she would win. I don't usually do that unlike some players. I think it got me 30 points or so.

Q. Do you have a PAW pick that you regret?

Nathan27: Wow, haha, there are too many (laughs)... Actually, I don't think that there are that many because there is so much talent on the tour and the tour can be so volatile that any pick is possible.

Q. Finally Nathan, can you give us a few sentences to describe your game style?

Nathan27: I usually choose matches where the scoring points are close such as (9-11) or (8-12) but a couple times throughout the tournament I'll throw in some carefully chosen upsets based on the player's comfort on the surface and how they've been playing recently.

Q. One more question sorry... polishprodigy has been quoted saying he will make a decision whether to represent Canada or Poland in the Fed Cup, at the moment the Fed Cup has a criteria in which the top 4 players from a nation can play, are you confident about your chances?

Nathan27: I can't say that I am. Canada has many talented PAW players making there way up the rankings so anything can happen from here until the time the players are chosen for the team.

Q. Nathan, thank you a lot for your time tonight, it was appreciated.

Good luck for the rest of the year.

Nathan27: Thanx!

End of Interview.
Spikey is doing a great job eh??
