Re: The Tennis Poker Journal!

Some World Championships stats.

Carot & The Crow have reached the doubles Worlds final for the 3rd consecutive year.

Geewhiz & Kuilli are also in the final and it's the first ever medal for both, while fellow The You Knows member Gallofa won the Olympic title in 2004 with now retired Croat123.

Arn & Josh will try to defend last year's bronze medal, repeating the feat of Valda Lake & Tim Wilson, who got the 3rd spot in 2004 and 2005.

Message to per4ever and righteous.
Its been a crazy year with the university, so sorry I didn't change my picks for like 5 legs, my mind wasn't in the game
I know its just a game so you probably don't care but I still had to say it
hopefully next season i'll come back

Re: The Tennis Poker Journal!

Ceze has reached his 5th consecutive singles semifinal and this streak is even more impressive considering he has played only 6 legs so far in his Tennis Poker career.

Carot & The Crow have also reached their 5th doubles semis in this season.

Rocketta & Rightous are still the leaders in this department with 4 consecutive finals during the 2004 season.

The 6th leg Surprise Award in Fed Cup goes to...

Russia!

In their very first season, after a consistently successful Round Robin, the Russians have beaten the defending champions, reaching the semis and qualifying for next year's World Group I.

Congratulations to Kart, Klok and Kirilenko Fan!

Re: The Tennis Poker Journal!

In the 6th leg singles semis, two posters ended up with the very same combination and so it was down to the second values. It's something which does happen every now and then, but surely the most amazing situation was the 2003 first leg tie among a trio of now retired ladies: Moon, Tine and Dawn Maree had the best combination of all and Dawn got the title thanks to the second score of Monica Seles. Curiously enough, going back to those old teams, the semis scores included players like Iroda Tulyaganova and Anna Smashnova, still -Pistolesi.

You did, you joined at the beginning of the 2002 season, in the very first leg of what can be defined the Tennis Poker Open Era.

The game was born in 1999, right after the US Open, on the other board. The rules about the card values are still exactly the same, but the tournament format was more similar to the current Worlds, with one round played per leg. By the time that board was shut down in 2001, the game had gathered more than 100 players. When I moved to this site, I changed the structure to the current one for the 2002 season and besides a few minor improvements, the game is still played that way.

21 active posters have played all the 6 Open Era seasons, and a handful of them joined since Day 1 back in 1999.

Re: The Tennis Poker Journal!

Ceze is the very first poster to win back-to-back singles titles! It will be very interesting to see how long this winning streak goes on, by now it's 11 matches, though he was able to win also 4 Fed Cup singles rubbers in the past 2 legs.

It's not the first time a player wins 2 singles titles in one season as SpencerCarlos already did it in 2003.

Ceze is only the 8th multiple singles winner, with Tetetubby leading the list with 4 wins, one title per year since 2003.

OPEN ERA SINGLES WINNERS!

4: Tetetubby

3: La Abuela, SpencerCarlos

2: Brian Stewart, CanIGetaWhat, Ceze, Hurricane Lily, Rightous

1: Alek, Arn, Ayla, Bh440, Carot, Croat123, Cuckoo, Dawn Maree, E.Dementieva, Geewhiz, Gourownway, James, Janice Kersey, Jen&RobbyFan, JohnnyWeirFan, Josh, Kart, ManuelanMaggieLover, Nicoleke, Paul, -Ph51-, RayRob, Rocketta, SpikeyAidanm, Tim Wilson, Valda Lake

Active players in red.

Congrats everyone!
