Viktoria needs a new coach? Yes/No?

Change is needed in the Belorussian's camp,
disinterest and losing has become the norm.

Sumyk has been here for years now, together him and Viktoria have become complacent.
He has allowed her to become too unfit.
Time for a shake-up.
But who?

Hogstedt?
Mortensen?
Steal Rodriguez from Li?
Not many good choices.

What are you on about?

Sam is one of the most capable coaches in tennis, he's the last person to blame for anything that has gone wrong in her career in recent times.

Re: Viktoria needs a new coach? Yes/No?

This isn't a very good suggestion at all. 'Disinterest and losing has become the norm' is just silly, it's not like she's got a negative W/L record even in this year.

Really, this almost borders on trolling.

Exordes can give a perfect lecture on this.

What has Sam done to Vika's game? Made everything complete, and is the reason for her two slams

No.

Firstly I think Sumyk is a tremendous coach. You have to remember everything he has done for Vika and her game.

You also have to factor in how much recent results are down to Sumyk. What opportunity, or more specifically what limitations has he been working under due to injury.

Sumyk knows what he's doing. Give them time.

If you look at the top of the game, nearly all the top players work on stability in their coaching relationships. The players who are changing coaches regularly are in general the players who are struggling. I really don't believe Vika is at the stage of her career where she wants to be messing about with coaches.

Re: Viktoria needs a new coach? Yes/No?

I'd say at the end of the year if things are still on this trend it may be time. Switching it up can be a good thing. That said, definitely not now. She's already in a fragile place with injury so needs someone she can rely on to help her come back. Since she's injured also there's no reason to believe that the relationship with Sumyk isn't benefiting her. And I agree with ozza that generally those who stick through coaches through good and bad get stronger in the long run.

My number one: Victoria Azarenka

ATP: Novak Djoković

Crazy Frenchies! Gilles Simon Alizé Cornet

I don't think a new coach will help. Sumyk has, as far as i can tell, done a great job.

Even if she get's a new coach later, her career is mostly up to her, not the coach.

Re: Viktoria needs a new coach? Yes/No?

Q. Did you have medical assurance that you couldn't do further damage to it as long as you played tonight?
VICTORIA AZARENKA: I'm too stubborn for that. As I said, I just wanted to give my best.

"Stubborn" Viktoria wants to ruin her body by playing through injuries, Sam allows it.
Sumyk should've put his foot down, and said you're not playing. But he allowed her to make another embarassment
of herself.
He can't help with the serve, he can't help her on clay.
She stagnated.
She is more concerned with partying and looking "cool" than tennis.
Sumyk lacks what is required to motivate her any longer.
Viktoria fans are being purposefully blind to it, you all don't realize just how far down
this pit will go.

Re: Viktoria needs a new coach? Yes/No?

Right, everybody's dumb, you're smart - Got it.

He can't help her on clay? She actually played a decent clay season last year, I'd say it's where she has shown most improvement in 2013.

He's not in the position to "allow her" anything. He's her coach, not her father. She pays him and she ultimately does what she wants, if she choses to play he can't do anything about it but voice his concerns, what he surely did.

You are looking for a quick fix and you look in all the wrong places. Vika's problem isn't Sam or Redfoo or anything else..it is that she is injured. That's frustrating but there is no quick fix to it. Either stay along for the ride or don't.

I say if she doesn't improve, she could go back to Antonio.
I don't know how much her tennis improved, but the hotness factor of her team decreased dramatically

That is no surprise to be honest. People were very rude and dismissive to this poster which is a shame. We don't have to agree on everything here but we should at least treat each other with respect. After all we're all here for Vika

Oh, that's a shame
I read some old comments by this poster, and (in hindsight) he was so right!
Yes, he bashed Vika but only because he wanted her to play like in 2012 again and was angry to see how she was wasting her talent with Redfoo.
And now I am angry and sad to see how she is wasting her "precious time" with Kenna.

She has one and I don't understand why this kind of training doesn't give better results (https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v...type=2&theater, https://www.facebook.com/VictoriaAza...5541257794171?
