Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.

Petra won 6-2 1-6 6-1, what a scoreline. Unfortunately I didn't see the match but I'm glad Sara made it at least somewhat competitive.

Just so you know: I'm better than you because my fave is better than your fave. Your fave is a bitch and a shrieking BBB. Or was it pusher? Who cares. She's a classless brat anyway. But don't you dare insult my fave, idiot.

I didn't watch it either, but glad Petra won, I like her and she is a better player than Sara.

My problem with the Petra hype is that people disregard the bad matches, bad sets as some sort of abberation, not the real Petra, when they're just a natural consequence of the way she plays the sport. The opportunity cost (if you want to be as prententious as me) of playing that aggressive is that when things go wrong they really go wrong ... you can't have the brutal beautiful winners without also strings of errors.

That applies to all aggressive or ballbash players I guess. I always facepalm when people say "if only she could cut out the errors" or worse "she's so stupid" "such a headcase". For a player like Petra who's naturally powerful but not the quickest, it's the smart game plan to try to finish the points quickly, whatever the outcome.

Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.

It seems that for a long time Petra Kvitova shows some kind of consistency in her game, at least in those two tournaments in Doha and Dubai. She has had a bad habit to lose matches on the second round to some top 40 or top 50 players. http://www.matchstat.com/Player/Petra%20Kvitova

Indian Wells should be an interesting tournament to see also what is the current form of Na Li who won both Maria Sharapova and Aga Radwanska in Australian Open. I am not sure if Petra Kvitova´s fighting spirit continues there too. But Vika can handle them all......

I know it's undeserved free publicity for this guy but still:

The thing about watching a solid of week of WTA tennis is it really makes you appreciate the ATP World Tour.

Seriously, what's wrong with some of those journos lately?

This is one thing Cronin is right about. ATP's boom years will be at an end soon. WTA's crop of young talent is far stronger than ATP's. But really that guy probably just wanted to bash WTA.

It's saying something when Cronin is the voice of reason.

With Cronin's anti-Vika stuff, I think he's trying to create an angle there where Vika's the heel, the one people will root against. Trying to stir up drama to get people interested and talking about the WTA players. I think Vika called him on it in a press conference last year.

I think I remember that. Didn't she say something like "Matt, why are you always doing this to me?"

PS: It's snowing like crazy here right now. I think I'll have to stay at home tomorrow watching tennis all day.

Ha, it must be cold indeed. I live in France and we've had much more snow than usual this winter... I live in Southern France and it's barely ever snowing here but today there were snow flakes falling. It's really unusually cold, I heard it'd be some -12°C tomorrow morning in Côte d'Azur
But it means shameful lolling in bed following tennis, yesss

Hello guys. My name is Jo, from Asia. Used to be a big fan of Justine, and since she retired I didn't watch much wta. Until 2012 semi final AO of vika vs Kim. That turned me around. I used to think vika had such temperament that she was off rail for the longest time. After that 2nd set disaster, I was impressed to see the way she started the third and found a way to finish. Now love to see her in every match. One of the few who held up with the rise of no. 1, let alone stubborn enough to defend her titles in face to hostility. a bit cocky and self centered but with a lot of character. cant ask for a better star player. Been scrolling in this vikaland for more than a year so now thought would be nice to say hi.

This is absolutely spot on. You should post it in the recent Vika/Petra rivalry thread in GM to talk some sense into people, and add that Vika is a much better player now than she was in 2011.

Do not know how Tsonga has turned this around. Berdych looked far the better player for most of the first 2 sets. Now Tsonga in control.
