Those really aren't good signs. She still has a few days to get better though...let's hope for the best.

It will be Sunday or Monday for sure. I imagine she will try to request as late a start as possible.

First practice in Beijing, China! Felt great to be back on court...

Hm...at least she seems to be in a positive mood off the court.

I'm not expecting much, if she was that sick she won't be a contender for the title.

Oh well, get a few wins and then concentrate on Istanbul

^I don't think she ever does, does she? I've never seen her practice but most players don't…

That doesn't sound encouraging about her illness, but her draw is friendlier here so if she can get through some early matches maybe she'd get a bit better later in the week? Hopefully!! Not sounding so good though .

She grunts when the practice ramps up to full instensity. Just warm up hitting, no

From all the practice videos I've seen she does (despite her haters sometimes claiming otherwise).

Thanks for your answer in the other thread!

Wow, that's interesting to me but I guess it's better to practice like it's real. I sure hope the grunt is back this week!!

In Tokyo she played the last first round match (second night match on second day) - I imagine she requested to because she was sick. Presumably she'll start on the late side in Beijing for the same reason, although maybe she'll want to start sooner so she gets more rest before the second match.

Also, wow I only scanned the draw quickly before, but Vika did NOT get lucky. I think she can beat Petkorazzi, but Sexlana in the second round is VERY tough, and then Shanksur, who recently beat her and Lady JaJa and NaNa who have both come very close this year .

It is not a good draw, but i think it feels more packed because Vika's status is unknown. Remember how few matches she lost outside of Serena the last years. Didn't really matter if she played somewhat hard players in the early rounds.

But if she is ill, or recovering from illness, she can lose to Petkovic in the first match.

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Order of Play in China Open on Sunday, 29 September 2013: http://www.chinaopen.com.cn/en/2013/schedule.html

For instance Serena Williams (#1 seed), Aga Radwanska (#3) and Na Li (#4) will start tomorrow.

So Vika's first match should be on Monday, and she will get one extra day to recover for it.

Good memories from Beijing 2012:
