Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

I think we can reevaluate the USO hopes from 'QF, maybe SF would be good' to 'just win the bloody thing.'

At the same time I really underestimated her ability to go from playing at yesterday's level to close to her best in one single set.

Cincinnati final statistics:

It is strange how Vika's game finally clicked in this match, especially comparing to yesterday's semifinal against Jelena Jankovic or her final against Samantha Stosur in Carlsbad. Serena has obviously a good influence to Vika who looks very fit and healthy too.....

I agree. It's like she finally just decided to stop worrying about the serve and it magically showed up. And then her overall game improved. If she can maintain the serving rhythm she established here and improve on it, there's no reason she shouldn't make the finals in New York again.

Her mental strength this tournament has been clutch.

OMG YAAAAS!!! I love this incredible woman! Win in such intense match over such champion that is Serena Williams is simply incredible. Hopefully she carries this form into US Open. I really hope she repeats last year's performance and gets a nice draw

Good luck Vichka!

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Watched the last few points again as I usually miss so much when I'm so excited

Didn't even see that Serena applauded the point for 6-5...you don't see that often in such a big match

The reaction to Vika's win today from journalists (and even in GM relatively) has been overwhelmingly positive .

Wow, bad on my part to underestimate Vika and her team. What a mental gigant.

And i think she played the best i seen all year. Or at least close to. Everything was great today i thought. That volley at 6-6 in tiebreak!

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Well that was easy.

That tiebreak was just great tennis from both.

Finally and hopefully played herself out of that injury funk. She really let loose, when down the set and finally played aggressive again. Went for her shots, depth and placement. She moved better and the net approaches were class. Three volley/overhead winners in the tiebreak after long points. Then her groundgame even brought back the serve, which was better than it has been in a long time. Hard to believe the mess of yesterday and Carlsbad in general.

I am not a fan of the direction a lot of Maria threads have taken over the last 12 months.
The undertone is very disappointing, aggressive and the comments are sometimes rude to a player just trying to earn a living, playing her hardest and having a good amount of success given her god given, natural talents.
You made the list: NEW President Bouchard, Cibulkova, Mladenovic, Wozniacki, Kerber, Cornet, Watson, Broady.
Please note this is a signature about Tatjana Maria

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

I have to dork now. Can't wait to see the replay!

Serena is good to her game. In a lot of ways she is like Serena. Scrap through when need to and bring out the best when you meet the best. It is when she underestimate some, she does get into trouble sometimes.

This is great preparation to USO she will need to find a gear up of she meet Serena again. But what a way to win, under extreme pressure and so so mentally tough. I guess her match against JJ was a good warm up to fight fight and fight.

Maybe it is good that redfoo is not around. Get her focus back on court! Haha
