At least tennis gets much more attention in the Sun newspaper during the Wimbledon tournament:

But it is more important news from Twitter:

Vika "I was in shock (repeated numerous times). I was in a lot of pain, and they worked on it, moved it about and it eased up. It was very shocking". That is the gist of what she said in BBC interview, the shock seems the main thing, which is probably a good thing for her future in the tournament.

It's nice to see her fight through the pain but I hope she didn't do anymore damage.

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

It looked a bit better toward the end. No idea how well Pennetta plays post-injury, but the last few minutes give hope that everything was just badly extended. After the initial shock wore off it got gradually better. Not writting the tournament off yet.

- Caroline Wozniacki has never beaten a reigning world #1.
- Caroline Wozniacki has never beaten a top 5 player at a major.
- Caroline Wozniacki has not beaten a top 3 player en route to any of her 23 titles.
- Caroline Wozniacki has beaten two top 5 players en route to her 23 titles (#4 Zvonareva and #5 Schiavone)

-Her fans think she had very bad luck with her Grand Slam and Regular Tour draws.

I'm at work so I didn't see the match so can someone explain what happened? I'm super nervous for her now. Knee injuries in summer aren't good.

I will hold my breath every time Vika runs for a ball from now on.

As for her chances at the title, one match at a time. Not very hopeful though.

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Hopefully Vika's injury is not as bad as it looked on today's match. It was a horrible start for this tournament, but maybe they can do some magic before her next match on Wednesday.

From Live Blog http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/news/...060376052.html

That scoreline doesn't tell any of the story really. Azarenka overcomes a horror fall to advance to the second round. She managed a weak smile and a wave as she leaves the court. I expect she'll spend the next two days on the treatment table before facing Flavia Pennetta on Wednesday.

Victoria Azarenka: "I was in such pain, it wouldn't let go, but then it calmed down. I think it was the shock a little bit. I don't know what happened... I'm still a little bit, I don't know... I'm gonna do the best I can to be ready for the next match and we'll see what happens."

We will have to wait patiently to see the actual situation. Should know tmr if she needs to scan it.
But what a fighter. And her game shown through and her toughness too. Great character.

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

She pushed off to chase a ball (that was out anyway ) and collapsed on her right knee. Crying with pain. At first it looked like Rybarikova's injury against Vika here two years ago.

They stopped for about 10 minutes to evaluate her and wrap her knee in yards of strapping.

She might be okay, the only problem is that it would have been essential really to get it elevated and iced straight away. Another hour or so makes that a bit pointless, even if the damage isn't serious it's going to swell like a balloon.

Well she slipped and immediately screamed and cried. It was horrible to watch, especially since it took a while for the trainer to come on court. She then got her knee taped (with A LOT of tape) and somehow fought through. Her momevement got better in the end it must be said.

Already saw some nasty comments in the result thread. Not gonna read this mess.

Just so you know: I'm better than you because my fave is better than your fave. Your fave is a bitch and a shrieking BBB. Or was it pusher? Who cares. She's a classless brat anyway. But don't you dare insult my fave, idiot.

exactly. time is of essence in such cases. but more importantly let's hope she didn't tear anything. 2013 is turning out to be so unlucky
i really thought she was a lock for the final. now i just hope this injury doesn't have any longterm effect.
so pissed right now.

Awful, just awful. When she started to scream I was reminded of that terrible time when Pierce got injured against Vera. I really thought her season was over.

It's just the one classless Radwanska fan, vast majority of comments were supportive.

I'll stay positive, the last few games of the second were encouraging.
